Page 101 of Tricky Princess
Ros and Sam were helping Devon shower, and since Ellea was the only one left with fully functioning magic, she was babysitting.
“No deal, sweetness,” he said, turning the page of the book.
“Why do all you boys like to give me a nickname?” She rolled her eyes. Fucking supernatural males. “My name is Ellea.”
“Oh, I know your name.” Bright blue eyes peeked at her over the book.
Ellea chewed her lip, mulling over the best way to approach him. The big vampire had long brilliant black hair that made her feel jealous of its perfect waves. He was a lot less pale than other vampires, and he seemed so relaxed. Vlad, his brother, was a stuck up ass-hat and would never be caught slouching or reading a shifter romance.
“Getting along?” Ros asked, coming up beside her.
“His fangs are bigger than yours.” Ellea nodded to Sebastian.
The vampire’s bright eyes glimmered, and he put down the book to turn toward them.
“Amongst other things,” Sebastian added.
Ros straightened, and Ellea suppressed an annoyed huff.
Whatever it takes.
“He has a nice accent too,” she added, which he did. She often wondered why Ros didn’t have one. “Why don’t you have an accent? You’re a billion years old, and I’m surprised you don’t say things like ‘wench’ or ‘ye ol’ something or other.”
Ros gaped at her like a fish.
Keep playing into my plan, big guy; you’re so good at it.
“I don’t have an accent because I’m a billion years old and I’ve lived everywhere.” Ros growled as Sebastian’s smile grew. “This fucker is a pretentious prick who likes to be dramatic and play big bad vampire.”
“I don’t know; compared to Vlad, he seems cool.”
Dimples appeared on Sebastian’s perfect face, and she knew she had him.
“I doubt Vlad would have been able to kill as many vampires as Sebastian,” Ellea said. “How did you know to come, anyway?”
“Oh, easy. Your father and I stuck around your crazy mother long enough to know what her next plan was.” He snapped his mouth shut and glared at her. “You sneaky little—”
“Don’t bother. Keep going. And I do think you have a nice accent,” she said, walking over to sit on the couch with him. “Continue what you were saying.”
“What about my fangs?” Sebastian said, batting his eyelashes and grinning at her.
“Definitely bigger,” Sam said, coming into the room to sit across from the vampire.
Ros threw his hands in the air and plopped himself in another chair.
“Now that’s covered…” Ros growled, and Ellea noticed the tip of his tongue toying with one of his sharp teeth.
“I have a hard time believing my fa—Cato is going against Cerce,” Ellea said, clearing her throat.
“You’ll have to ask him about that, but believe it, sweetness,” Sebastian said.
“Why didn’t you come sooner?” Ros asked.
“Something to do with Cato only being able to be gone for so long,” Sebastian said.
Ellea didn’t know what that meant, but now Cato was in Hel, so he wouldn’t be getting back any time soon.
“If he doesn’t want to leave her, then why come and help us?” Ellea questioned.
