Grace

THE DOOR SLID OPEN , revealing Trex waiting alone outside the infirmary. In a single, careful stride, he enveloped me in his embrace.

“Have you been here waiting the whole time?” I asked with a cocked brow and a grin.

Trex grinned. “Rekna only mentioned that I needed to depart from the infirmary. Are you free to go?”

I put my hands out to the side. “All done. No more implant.”

He put a hand to my abdomen. “Does it hurt? Are you in any pain?”

I shook my head. “No. I feel fine, but Rekna says I have to take it easy for a couple of days. He said no intercourse with you for at least two rotations.”

Trex grunted his disapproval.

“Afraid so,” I grinned.

Trex leaned down and picked me up bridal style.

“I can walk.”

His chest rumbled, and he continued to walk.

I chuckled. “Where are we going?”

“ Our suite. We have a lot to discuss.”

I leaned against his chest.

“Discuss? That’s all?” I teased. “He said no intercourse. Not no sex. There is still a lot we can do.” I gave him a coquettish grin. His eyes shifted down to me and his lip curled up in one corner before he picked up his pace.

There were two palace guards who saluted when we approached Trex’s suite.

Our suite now.

It amazed me that so much had happened in such a short time, yet I felt as if I’d known Trex all my life.

When the door shut behind us, Trex continued through to the massive kingly bedroom with the largest wooden bed I’ve ever seen.

The room was draped in colorful tapestries and paintings.

The bedding was silky and the bed luxuriously soft as he placed me on it.

It surprised me when Trex sat on the bed and pulled me into his lap.

With one hand on my thigh, he threaded his fingers through my hair, then kissed my temple, giving me a contemplative gaze.

“Grace, I want to tell you something that I should have told you before.”

I ran my fingers along his forearm on my thigh. “What is it?”

“I know I made a mess of things by not telling you who I was earlier.

But I want you to know that I could never see myself becoming King or an effective one if it weren’t for you.

It’s because of your faith in me. And your strength and compassion, that I want to be better. I want to share everything with you. You will be my queen and I will always be by your side, supporting you in whatever you want to do.”

“Well, you should know that before you, my life was boring and had nothing going for it. You changed all that. You loved me unconditionally right from the start. I have never felt more safe and more loved than I do with you.”

He brought both hands to my cheeks and smiled. “It looks like we saved one another,” he said as he pressed his lips against mine.
