“What?” Tino exclaimed, sitting up and looking deliciously ruffled. His hair was always way hotter when it was messed up.

Silver sighed with exasperation. “You need to listen for this to work! Did none of you pay attention?”

Wilston looked guilty as he whispered, “but you looked so cute while reading, and your voice calmed me.”

“Erg! How am I supposed to be mad at you when you say stuff like that!” I grinned as I watched Silver fight his smile but eventually lost. His bonded’s effect on him was too strong to ignore.

Figuring we needed to return to what was important, I said, “We can help our familiars by offering them to eat things that hold magic. In this world that means some critters, too. We don’t need mages, thank fuck. But we can tell them to hunt small animals with traces of magic, like flying squirrels and those white rabbits.” We had a few animals that were born with magical abilities, the squirrels had wind magic, allowing them to fly from tree to tree. It wouldn’t be a lot of magic they each offered, but if our familiars ate only magical beings, it would all add up in the end. Or at least I hoped so.

“What about the blue birds?” Silver said thoughtfully. “Those are filled with water magic.” It was a great idea, but those specific birds were hard to hunt. They tended to stay deep inside forested areas and with their magic they replenished plants, making them thrive and allowing them enough water to grow.

“If they can find some out here,” Niam said. “But we are in a forested area so maybe.”

“So, we agree on telling them to hunt only magical creatures while here?” I asked. Since we were all in agreement, we summoned our familiars and ordered them to do just that. It seemed they already had several different kinds of elemental magic, even Gilbert and Kitty, proving they had thought about this themselves already.

“Something I found interesting in the book,” Silver said, looking at Shamus, “Is that it believes that our familiars are the same, withthe same memories. But without extra magic when they appear. As if they’re reborn. And if that’s true, then they remember all our fights and how to use their magic alongside us.”

“Ifthat’strue then that also means Leon had a fondness for noses even back then,” Wilston shuddered.

We burst out laughing just as Julie entered the room, smiling, but her eyes told us it was forced.

“What’s wrong?” Xari jumped from the couch to greet her with a hug, his worry evident.

She sighed and hugged him back. “I need to eat with the others every night to prepare for my role in this. I… I need a lot of guidance for it to work since I’m not a mage.”

“Do you still want to do it? We won’t be mad if you’d rather we find someone else,” Niam said.

She shook her head. “I want to do this. I don’t trust anyone else to keep you safe, other than myself.”

“I’m glad to hear it,” Niam smiled. “We don’t want anyone else either.”

“No one could compare,” Silver scoffed, like the idea of someone else was ridiculous.

Julie had tears in her eyes as she laughed and wiped them away. “So, you’re okay with me not eating dinner with you?”

“Of course! We plan on educating ourselves on our powers, anyway. It would be boring for you, trust me,” Xari said seriously.

“I wasn’t that boring!” Silver snapped, causing Xari to widen his eyes in surprise.

“Damn, your emotions can go from zero to a hundred in seconds!” That seemed to be the wrong thing to say, the glare Silver shot him proved as much. Xari winced, rubbing his chest, feeling just how mad Silver was getting.

“Truce?” Niam gestured between them. “We need to get some sleep and no one wants to go to bed angry.”

Xari gave Silver his most charming smile, causing Silver to roll his eyes, but a smile tugged at his lips and that was as good as it would get.

I felt myself relax and then remembered I’d yet to show my man what I’d made myself earlier. It had hurt, but was so worth it. I really hoped Tino would allow me to pierce his dick, too, something about it was just so damn hot. But if he wasn’t into it, I’d just give myself another one and be satisfied with that.

“We should get some sleep, like Niam said.” I stood and offered my hand to Tino, my smile showing him I had fun things in mind. He grinned and eagerly followed me to our room.

We barged inside, slamming the door behind us, alerting the others that we were definitely up to something. Not that I cared. They’d had lots of time with their bonded, and we had much we needed to catch up on. But with Tino it wasn’t just about having sex. I wanted that, too, yes, but he was my friend first and that meant I really just wanted him close. That said, I still really wanted to fuck him right now. To show him how it would feel getting fucked. And with my piercing it had to be that much more pleasurable. Or I hoped so, at least.

“Want you to fuck me,” Tino said, pushing me against the closed door and then kissing me. His hips grinded against mine, forcing a groan out of me. Like I would be able to last if he kept rubbing against me like this.

“Want that, too,” I rasped, forcing my lips from his and backing him towards our bed. The fatigue from training was instantly forgotten as my need for him took over all my senses. I had to have him. And it had to be now.

“Shit,” he gasped, as I palmed his erection through his pants. “Lube,” he reminded me.

“Get naked and I’ll grab the lube.” I opened the nightstand and quickly grabbed it. Figuring I needed to be naked too, I discarded my clothes and turned to see Tino naked and waiting on the bed. I would be inside his body in just a few seconds. Or rather in minutes, since I wanted him to be prepared to take me without pain.
