‘He might still be alive.’
‘Do you believe that?’
‘Not really, no.’
‘Come on, Kirby, we need to find answers. And find a killer.’
‘That too.’

When Lottie arrived back at the station, Kirby called her to the incident room, where Lynch had updated the board with a bullet-point list of all involved. She added the information she’d just discovered.

Éilis Lawlor: interior designer. Worked on Jennifer’s house. Established Life After Loss widows’ group. Body found at Ladystown lake.
Helena McCaul: Herbal Heaven. Group member. Missing since lunchtime Saturday. Mother claims she’s a liar and is not married.
Orla Keating: accountant. Group member. Missing since Saturday. No clear date of when husband disappeared. Difficult to pin down an alibi.
Amy Corcoran: Dolan’s supermarket. Last seen Saturday night.
Tyler Keating: accountant/part time lecturer. Disappeared twelve months ago. Car (bleached) found in Jennifer’s lock-up. Five-day window for his disappearance. Possible retrieval of GPS data.

Kathleen Foley: retired nurse. Helena’s mother. Claims Helena lies.
Luke Bray: Dolan’s supermarket; colleague of Amy Corcoran. Harassed Amy? Conviction for assault.
Bianca Tormey: schoolgirl. Éilis’s babysitter, works in Dolan’s supermarket during holidays.
Frankie Bardon: dentist. Employed Jennifer as a dental nurse. Married to Owen Dalton.
Owen Dalton: deluxe yoga studio. Éilis, Jennifer and Orla members. Married to Frankie Bardon.
Turning away from the board, Lottie asked, ‘Did Amy Corcoran attend SunUp or Smile Brighter?’
‘I’ll find out,’ Kirby said.
‘No, you’re too close to this.’ Lottie patted his arm. He was shaking.
‘With her belongings left behind at her house, she has to have been taken. It’s too similar to Éilis Lawlor’s situation. I need to find her.’
‘Was she part of the widows’ group?’
‘She mentioned that she knew about it,’ Kirby said.
‘I’m sure a lot of people knew about it.’
‘That’s what I said.’ Lynch capped the marker noisily.
Lottie glanced at the board. ‘There are no definite signs that Orla and Helena have been abducted.’
‘Other than we can’t find them,’ Kirby said grumpily. ‘They were last seen driving off together in Helena’s car.’
‘Maybe they’re involved in the killings,’ Lynch said. ‘Or one of them is, and abducted the other.’
