Ciro
Somehow I dozed off with my head resting on Cobalt’s leg without either of the wolves eating me.
He only sort of smelled like Teal but it was enough to calm my cat down so that I could drift off for a bit.
It was crystal clear that the wolves used the dragons interchangeably for cuddling and affection.
Would I be tossed into that mix too or was it because Ambry and Odie had always been inseparable?
My dreams chased these questions like a kitten chased his own tail. Then it rained buckets. It rained all over the place, making my whole dream wet until Cobalt’s sleepy voice broke through the veil.
“What the fuck, Teal? Are you on drugs?”
“Wake up, Ciro!” Teal’s voice cut through the fog and I blinked as more water rained down on me.
“Cut it the fuck out, Teal,” Cobalt snapped. “You’re getting everyone wet and Robin isn’t a bloody water dragon. Don’t make me—”
“Stop!” I said, swiping at his foot and rolling away from the group before he did drown the baby by accident. “What the hell is your problem?” I sprung to my feet. “Mad that I was sleeping on the job?”
He grabbed my shirt and snatched me close to him, burying his face in my neck and then ripping my shirt to sniff my chest. I slapped at the back of his head, trying to push him away but it was too late.
I no longer smelled like sugar cookies. He’d used enough water to wash some of my pheromone blocker spray.
“Out of the nest, Teal,” Cobalt said, wrapping his arms around his brother’s middle and lifting him over the edge.
“You’re out of the nest until you figure your shit out!
You’ve made hours of work for us because all your blood’s in your dick and you refuse to use your words. I’m not having it! Where’s Indigo?”
“I don’t know but the cherries are on the table over there,” Teal said, starting to climb back into the nest to get to me but Cobalt wrapped his arms around me and put me out too.
“What did I---” I started but he set me out.
Teal pushed him away, nearly knocking him over and for a second, I thought they’d come to blows.
“If Grandpa’s right, figure it out. I hope he’s not because if Ciro is your mate and you’re pulling that shit he should kick you in the balls,” Cobalt said and turned away.
“Mind your own fucking business!” Teal shouted and both of the wolves growled.
“Not around the baby,” I said, doing my best to push away my sleepy, horny voice and to sound like a guard.
“You’re off duty, Ciro. You’re off until you two figure this out. If you knew and didn’t say something, this is on you as much as it’s on Teal. Only I’m not going to knock you to the moon and it’s not because you’re an omega. It’s because you’re his omega.”
Teal grabbed my shirt again and pulled me in close to him.
He sniffed me again and licked the damp skin of my neck.
I let out a long, slow breath. I was just as hard and slick as earlier, but something bugged me.
Maybe I deserved the water. It wasn’t like I was forthcoming with the vital information but there was something else.
“Your friend?” I asked.
“Indigo’s waiting on him,” Teal said. “Grandpa told me. Did you come here knowing? Is that why you knocked me over?”
“Maybe we should have this talk somewhere else. Give everyone time to cool down and ---” I turned to look at the trio with the baby. “Unless you guys want help drying out the nest.”
“Go!” Cobalt roared.
Teal pulled me close and growled back at his brother.
“He’s not going to hurt me,” I sighed. “This asshole thing is only hot during sex and foreplay.”
“We’ll be in my bedroom or maybe the kitchen, if you didn’t feed him while I was gone,” Teal said and tossed me damp over his shoulder.
I hissed but didn’t struggle to get away.
It was too late to save my dignity now. The proverbial cat had to fight his way out of a wet paper bag, and everyone knew his secret now.
“And we’re already benched. This is what we were trying to avoid,” my cat sighed.
“You should’ve said something,” Teal said while we waited for the lift. “If you had said something we could’ve handled everything differently and—”
“And what?” I asked him. “I’ve just been fired because of us and—”
“What? No, you haven’t. It’s illegal to fire someone because they meet their true-mate and I’d know. I’ve spent the last few years studying every law here and that’s not even the point. Cobalt didn’t fire you. This is family business.”
“They kicked us out of the nest!” I said, fighting off the urge to bite him on the ass.
“For now,” Teal sighed. “Just for now.”
“It might not be just for now… I mean---”
“I’ll apologize to them later. I didn’t get the baby wet. Hell, barely any water got on Ambry or Odie either. Most of it got on you and some on Cobalt. I knew what the hell I was doing. They’ll switch out a few blankets and things will be as good as new.”
“Tell that to my shirt.”
“I’ll buy you a whole store of new shirts,” Teal said.
“So much for not living by your privilege,” I rolled my eyes.
“I share my privilege. I’m sorry about your shirt but not the rest of it,” Teal said.
“That’s something I guess. I didn’t want this to happen.”
He sat me on my own two feet and motioned for me to get into the lift. I stepped inside and he pressed a button on the outside to shut the doors. I rode down alone, wet, and pissed, laying on the button to send the damn thing back to the top.
“What the fuck was that about?” I hissed, stepping off.
“You said you didn’t want this. So go on then. Go be free,” Teal said, pointing at the lift doors.
“You’re a fucking idiot when you’re rutting!
Do you know that?” I growled. “Get in the damn lift!” I shoved him inside and kept walking until he was between me and the lift wall.
If he wanted out, he’d have to go through me.
“I didn’t want to be fired! This is the sort of job that usually only goes to senior guards!
I was going to put it off until the baby was old enough not to need a guard or at least until I was here long enough to prove that I’m good at my job and---” I made quick work of his fly. “Just shut up for a minute, okay?”
“You’re the one doing all the talking,” Teal chuckled.
“Shut up and let me think! I’m going to finish what I started in the truck. Give you some bloody brain cells back. Then we can talk about this, okay? The cat’s out of the bag and he’s horny. So, shut up and let me suck your dick.”
I dropped to my knees and glanced up at him. His eyes had shifted to that of his dragon and he leaned back against the lift wall after reaching over to press a button that stopped the elevator.
“In case Indigo comes home sooner than expected.”
“Shush and besides, Cobalt’s already seen,” I said, pulling his pants and underwear down to his knees. “Brain cells are important.”
“So, you’re going to suck mine out through my dick?” he chuckled, but the sound died as I licked away a drop of precum waiting there just for me.
