Story: The Revenge Of The Dead Luna
AEGIS'S P.O.V
"Beta Solice said your car is ready,"
Elias told me avoiding my eyes like a boy who broke something expensive. “I’m really sorry, Aegis. I didn’t mean...”
“I know.” I cut him off and walked away. I can't be here anymore.
Sheila stood near the outside gate. She whispered to her friends, like she won a game I didn’t know we were playing. Her eyes met mine. She didn’t flinch. Just smiled wider.
I ignored her and climbed into the car. Placing the phone between my shoulder speaking to Brianna and balancing my tablet on my thigh, I tapped through files.
"You don't sound good Alpha ," she said, voice tight. "Come back. Please."
“I’m fine,” I lied. "Just need to get something from the archives."
My fingers stopped moving.
Something is wrong. The engine rattled. My stomach twisted.
The driver met mine in the rearview mirror. There's a small smirk on his face. Shit.
“Are you okay, miss?”
“I think...” The steering wheel jerked violently. Tires screamed. The car spun. I screamed. Everything blurred. I kicked the door open with my body and rolled. Metal groaned behind me.
Everything went kaboom.
Flames swallowed the car in seconds. I looked back at the driver. He didn’t make it.
I couldn’t move. My ears rang. My head pounded. My mind went into shock. What the hell just happened?
I fell to the ground, weak and unconscious. My body laxed. My eyes went weak. Right before I looked up and there's a cloaked figure standing in front of me. I blinked. The face was blurry. My vision swam. And as if for the grand finale, I fell under.
---
I woke up to loud voices chanting around me. I opened my eyes slowly.I can't move My body's tied to a stone table and my wrists bound. Blood dripped from a cut on my arm.
I blinked hard. Figures continued to move around me, circling, dancing.
No. These are not people. Not fully. Their skin was ash grey. Their eyes were... missing. Empty sockets stared at nothing. Blood ran down their foreheads in the shape of the same symbol carved into the cave wall behind them—a crooked spiral with a claw through it.
I gasped. They were clappibg and chanting. Blood dripped from the cut into a bowl in the center below. I yanked my wrist free with a cry. The pain burned, but I didn’t stop.
I grabbed the nearest rock and swung. One fell. The others screeched like animals. They attacked. I fought. But their strength was unreal.
My body gave out. My legs wouldn’t hold me. I screamed again. I fell to my knees and I knew in my mind- this is it. I'm going to die. I waited for the hit but it never came, instead a shining bright light appears from nowhere.
The King materialized in front of me swinging. His sword sliced through the air like a samurai. Thank Goddess I never fought him.
Cos this man can fight. Monsters fell at his feet with every swing.
He was everywhere. Swift. Ruthless. The last one lunged at him and he threw up the sword to tear its head clean off. The sword landed perfectly in his hands.
Then he was by my side.
“They've taken too much blood from you,” he said. “We need to get you to a hospital now.”
“I—” Darkness again.
---
When I woke up, I was on a soft bed. I looked down at my waist to see the PARADOX heated blankets around me. I am definitely not at my pack. The blanket is very expensive.
I looked around and the flags outside the window caught my eye. Only one place has the three convolution pride flags.
The Palace.
Everything hurt. My arms. My head. My soul.
Those damned things drained me like a cow. I'm going to find and kill every last bit of them.
I turned my head. The King sat beside me, holding a wet cloth that he dabbed gently at the wound on my arm.
I hissed in pain.
“Sorry,” he said softly. “Just stay still.”
“How did you find me?” He didn’t answer.
I stared at him. “How did you get me here?” I croaked.
“There was no car.” His jaw clenched. “I carried you.”
“Across a forest?”
“I ran.” I blinked. “That fast?”
He didn’t meet my eyes. I sat up slowly, ignoring the pain. “You’re not just a Werewolf, are you?”
He stood and paced the room once, pulling his own hair, then stopped. “No. I’m not.”
A thick silence fell.
He turned back to me. “You shouldn’t have left with that car.” “How was I supposed to know someone would rig it.”
“I should’ve been faster.” I looked at him again. Really looked. His eyes weren’t just tired. They were worried.
“You saved me.”
“You thought I wouldn’t?” I didn’t answer.
“I’d burn this whole kingdom down if they touched you again,” he said, voice low.
My breath caught. “I didn’t ask you to care,” I whispered.
“I didn’t ask myself either.”
He left the room.
