SANDRA

June

‘Slow down for goodness’ sake! You’ll crash!’ Sandra shouted, gripping onto the side of the speedboat for dear life. Patti was speeding along the coast of Fuengirola as if she hadn’t got a care in the world.

‘Hold tight and you’ll be fine.’ Mary laughed.

What on earth was she doing here? Sandra played it safe, always had, and now look at her! Oh heck, they were heading straight towards another boat, they were going to collide! She closed her eyes and gripped tighter.

‘It’s okay, she’s turned in time!’ Mary shouted.

Sandra opened her eyes and breathed out a sigh of relief when she saw that they really had turned around and were heading back to the shore.

Adrenaline suddenly flooded through her as she relaxed and watched the foamy waves licking the sides of the boat.

She had to admit it was exhilarating. She couldn’t believe the things she’d done in the past few weeks.

And it was all because of Patti. And Mary.

‘You three are incredible!’ Rob, the instructor, said, when they were all back on land again. ‘You’re real daredevils.’

‘We’re just three old gals living our best lives,’ Sandra said, her eyes sparkling.

And that, she realised, was exactly what she was doing.
