I picked up a towel laying across my bed. “The motel is almost forty-five minutes away. It would be stupid for you to stay there.”
And I also don’t want you to go… not yet.
“I don’t mind. I feel like I did something to offend you, and I’m sorry, whatever it is.”
I tossed the towel in the hamper and turned to look his way. “You didn’t offend me.”
“Then what is it?”
Lucas leaned against the doorframe, and my eyes traveled to those magnificent abs of his. “If we’re going to have a serious talk, then you need to put on some clothes.”
He half grinned. “I’ll be right back.”
I plopped down on the edge of the bed, unsure whether I should tell him to go to that damned motel or give him the truth.
He walked into my room dressed in olive green cargo shorts and a black T-shirt. Much better than the slacks and oxford shirts.
Lucas sat down next to me. “You were saying?”
I raked a hand through my hair. “I don’t know what I’m trying to say… I don’t mind you staying, okay?”
“Play a game with me?”
“What?”
“Truth or Dare.”
“Now?”
“Yes. One more thing to cross off the list.”
“Okay, you ask first.”
“Truth or Dare?”
I sucked in a deep breath. “Truth.”
“Is that kiss the reason why you’ve been distant lately?”
“Yes.”
“Why?”
I didn’t look his way. “That’s not the game. My turn. Truth or dare?”
“Truth.”
“What did you feel when you kissed me?”
He didn’t answer, and when I turned to look at him, his stare was intense. “Like you were my first kiss… and my last.”
I swallowed and turned away, my heart pounding in my chest.
“Truth or dare?” he asked.
“Truth,” I whispered.
“What did you feel when we kissed?”
