Yes, well one day I would give my presentation to Bjourn about why I should have the liaison position for other Supernatural’s with the Hackura. I was Xander’s mate… so I should be able to be named to the position and… I liked it better than anyone else. Knowing it was my destiny did cement my case. I’d have to update my charts to give to the King of the Hackura. Freya snickered in my head.
Xander kissed my lips and continued, “Anyway, he said that Freya is a goddess. He said that you and me….” Freya sighed, “Well crap. The little Werebengal gave me away. Oden could’ve warned me.” I asked her, “Gave you away? About what?” My wolf didn’t answer.
I focused back on Xander. My husband said, “Well, basically he said you have a lot of powers. We will have at least one pup who is a white wolf. The maximum is ten white wolf pupsbut then Dylan pointed out I don’t like odd numbers and that’s eleven with you. He thinks we will somehow have eleven so there will be an even number of twelve counting you.”
I snorted, “Umm I don’t sneeze out pups their dude… that’s a lot of pups. I mean over time… and the centuries we will live… that’s actually not that bad. Except we haven’t even had one yet… and I had my appointment so I’m on birth control and….” Xander kissed me.
When my mate pulled back, he said, “I’m just letting you know what he said. We don’t know if that’s true. That’s just what their histories say, and they believe it. You have twenty powers you can pass down. The reason they said ten is the maximum is because each pup can inherit two powers from you.”
Freya snorted, “That’s not completely true. What an interesting take on things.” I held up my hand to Xander. I asked Freya, “What does that mean?” Freya said, “We do have many powers. Not all of them can be passed on. There is no set number of what our pups will be able to do.” I relayed to Xander what she said.
His eyes widened as he took that in. My mate replied calmly, “Umm ok. Well then Irfan also said that you and I were going to ascend to be…” he trailed off then continued, “Well, you’re going to be the goddess of the Werewolves. You’ll take Selene’s place and I’m not entirely sure what I’ll be doing; however, I also ascend to a god.”
I asked my wolf, “Freya, is that true?” Freya answered, “Yes. I am a goddess, Melanie. You and Xander are going to ascend, not die. I was always meant to take Selene’s place. I am her younger sister after all. I was just waiting for the perfect human half. I was waiting for you.” I was stunned.
Xander snapped us mixed drinks, and I quickly drank mine. Xander said, “Irfan also mentioned something about my family, but Dylan mentioned something about yours.” I asked, “Mine?” Xander hummed, “Ask your wolf the name of her dad’s wolf.”
I asked, “Freya, what was your dad’s wolf’s name?” Freya snorted, “Fang is giving away secrets, I see. Pepper was the name of my dad’s wolf. Sugar was my mother. My parents chose their human form, and their wolves went to descendants.”
I shouted, “MY PARENTS ARE DESCENDANTS FROM A GOD?!” Freya said, “Your dad is my dad’s descendant. Goddesses and God’s have off periods. Sugar was chosen for your mother because of me. Well, once I decided you were my human.” What the hell?
I asked Xander, “Do my parents know that? Because… Dylan should totally have to tell them that. Not me. SO not me and…” Xander cut me off, “Your dad and brothers found out in their White Wolf lessons. Apollo and Ajax were cousins to Freya.”
Freya snorted, “Well, now everyone is keeping secrets from me. I don’t like that. Wait until they all find out my human has secrets galore. I’m not even going to give them a heads up. We just ran with all of them and they didn’t mention it.”
That’s why it wasn’t awkward at all. They were her family…ok that was kind of super….adorable. I said, “Ok… back to what Irfan… the Werebengal said about your family. Because that makes sense to my brain. Your mom is a promised sibling. Your dad is the strongest pure blooded Werewolf around. Of course the pure of heart Fairy is going to ascend.”
I paused then added, “I could even see Aiden ascending for full blooded Fairies. Maybe they realize that partials need their own goddesses since no one watches out for them… holy crap on a cracker… we are going to be a god and goddess?” Freya said, “I told you that.”
I gasped, “Like… I can’t even… that’s… I’m not… exactly goddess material here… I rant at people and tell them off… like a lot. I come up with experiments… I can’t even have aconversation with my family because I’m awkward. We made progress and then I shut it all down.”
“I’ve been putting them off after I went to see them and then we ran together… I even made up ridiculous reasons that I’m sure Sierra changed. Well... today was a legit reason… the rest… not really. I just don’t want to answer their questions.”
“That I have no intention of answering… in the first place. So I don’t want to have to avoid their questions. Then there’s the whole… thing of them being the same people I always remembered… and I’m the one who is different and they definitely notice. T totally noticed I’m more murder-y… and he definitely doesn’t think I should be… and….”
Xander took my hands and pulled me into his lap. My husband said, “Hey, it’s ok. Your family isn’t going to give up and none of them think something is wrong with you. T is worried about you, but that’s it. They are all worried.”
“As far as the god and goddess thing we will figure this out. Freya chose you. I think you are the perfect choice and so does she.” Freya agreed, “Mate’s right. I planned to tell you in a few years. Maybe ten, to give you some time to adjust. We both know that Selene is awful at her job.” Truer words had yet to be spoken.
Freya added, “Plus, we won’t be alone. We will have mate and a group of people to balance everything, so you don’t end up with egocentric bitches who have a goddess complex. There will be people to balance us out.” Ok… a group of people. I could deal with that.
I told Xander, “Let’s just get through Thanksgiving.” He chuckled, “We have a big meeting set up to discuss this the day after Thanksgiving.” I concluded, “So that’s Dylan’s meeting of manifesting?” Xander nodded.
It was literally titled:I blame myself because I forgot my manifesting powers. I sighed, “Let’s just… go to bed.” Xandersmirked saying, “I like the way you think.” Freya purred. I was definitely ok with the distraction.
Because currently I had too many thoughts. One being… was something wrong with me? It had been months since I was marked, and I still hadn’t gone into heat. Could Xander I not even have pups? Was I destined to never have a family with Xander? Freya and I were going to have to chat soon. I needed some answers… which I found ironic. I kept secrets… and now so did my wolf. We really were a pair.
