CHAPTER FOURTEEN
MADALYN
When I stepped into Target's house, I was greeted by the sight of his kids engrossed in their game consoles, their laughter filling the air.
They are happy, carefree, and seem very much at home. It's heartwarming to see them enjoying their time together. Sibling rivalry is a thing, not that Aria and I suffered from it, our age gap helping with that.
Target's house itself was quite a surprise. I had expected something more rugged, more indicative of his rough-and-tumble lifestyle with the Rugged Skulls MC. Biker parts all over the kitchen table, oil stains, maybe some food containers, but there was nothing.
His house was completely clean, like he took pride in his home. I suppose he has to having Emmi and Rex around a lot.
Instead, I find a space that is genuinely lived in and welcoming. The dark wood paneling adds both a manly feel, but a homely one, while the gray sofa looks divine to have a cat nap on. A sturdy coffee table sits in the center, bearing the marks of family life.
They are playing on the larger game console that Rex pulled out from the drawer of the TV unit, both sitting on pillows on the floor. I am sitting on a large chair that looks like it was made for Kohen; the large indent in the seat tells me that this is his favorite seating place.
The soft material is nice against my bare legs, while I read my latest cowboy book on my Kindle.
“Do you know how to play, Maddi?” Emmi asks, then her hand goes to her mouth, her eyes wide.
“What’s wrong?” I ask her, sitting forward, locking my Kindle.
“I gave you a nickname. Daddy said that we can only give nicknames to friends and people we care about.” I smile at her explanation.
“Emmi, you we more than welcome to call me ‘Maddi.’ I know that I am not family or a close friend, yet, but I would like you to feel comfortable around me enough to give me a nickname. I am okay with that. You too, Rex.” He nods with a smile that makes him look like his father.
Looking at them both, I see that Emmi took after her mom with her blonde hair, while Rex is all Kohen with his dark shade.
“Thank you. Are you and our dad dating?”
I blink at her question. Before I can answer, the game is paused and they both turn around to look at me. With two sets of green eyes staring at me I format an answer in my head that will not put me or their father in an awkward position. I have no idea what Kohen has told them.
Not that there is much to tell them. We have not gone on a date yet, even though he keeps hinting that we are going on one. Hell, he is not hinting, he is telling me outright that we are going on a date.
From the little time I have spent with Emmi and Rex, I know that I can explain certain things to them and they will understand.
“I am not sure what we are right now. We have only just met, so we are getting to know one another.” Emmi nods, but it is Rex who replies.
“Dad said that he wants to date you.” My eyebrows hit my hairline at what he just told me, my gaze flicking to Emmi and she is nodding enthusiastically.
“He is a good daddy, and man. Mom says it all the time. You will be lucky to have him as your man,” she tells me.
How are these kids only ten?
I look at the clock on the wall and see that they have had a little bit extra over the hour they had been given.
“Okay you two, it is time for bed. You know what to do, yes?” They nod, looking at each other with a knowing look, one that says I am avoiding their questioning.
“We showered already. We need to brush out teeth, then get ready for bed. You do not need to help us,” Rex tells me as they shut off their console.
I watch as they put away their things, shocked that at their age they are not complaining about doing simple chores.
Once they head upstairs, I clean up the kitchen, then check the security cameras at Grandpa Pete’s to make sure he is okay. He is still in his room, sleeping, thankfully.
Taking one step at a time, I make my way upstairs, checking on the kids.
Both are in their rooms; Emmi is already snuggled up with one of her plush toys.
“Good night, sweet girl.” I brush her hair off her forehead.
“Night, Maddi.’” Her eyes are already dropping.
Closing her door behind me, I walk to Rex’s room to find him holding a book in his lap.
“Are you supposed to be reading in bed?” I sit on the edge of his bed.
“Dad knows that I like to read a few pages before going to sleep. I promise it will only be a few,” he vows.
“Your dad is kinda cool, huh?”
He nods. “He is. He loves me and Emmi, and he looks after our sister, Raya, too, when Mom and Andrey are ill or just need to have a date night.”
“He is still close to your mom, then?”
I ask because I am curious about their relationship, but I know that it is kinda wrong asking a ten-year-old about his father’s relationship with his mother.
Waving my hand in the air, I get to my feet, knowing that I am in the wrong for asking him this question, or the others that are swirling around my head.
“Never mind. I am sorry for asking that, Rex. Read what you are allowed and then lights out, okay? Good night.” I leave the boy’s room, closing the door behind me, as my heart races in my chest.
Target confuses me and he brings out a side of me that I am not comfortable with. I like things simple and easy in life, and I am not sure that him being close to his ex-wife is something I can handle.
He has told me that they have not been intimate for many years, but I have seen them together twice and I can’t help but catch a vibe between them. Hell, the first time I saw them together he kissed her on the lips.
What does her husband think of that side of their relationship?
I double-check the locks on the doors, then turn the main light off, turning on a lamp, which casts the room in a soft ambiance. Then I sit on the corner of the sofa, putting some cooking show on the TV. Making sure the volume is down low, so I can hear the children if needed, I read my book.
My eyes grow heavy after a while, I see that it is past midnight before sleep takes me.
I hear my name on a whisper, then a little louder as my body is nudged and my eyes spring open, then focus on Kohen looming over me.
“Hey, you fell asleep.” I sit up, almost causing our heads to collide but luckily he moves back enough.
“Oh, I am so sorry. I was reading, and I must have dozed off.”
“Hey, it is okay. The kids are sound asleep, babe.” He soothes my panic, with a smile, brushing the hair back off my face.
“What were you reading?” He arches an eyebrow and my panic ramps up; I quickly reach for it but he is quicker.
Damn it.
Oh, shit.
He opens the drive and it now hits me that I should have added a freaking passcode so he could not see what I was reading.
I sit, nibbling at my lip while his lips move as his eyes trace across the screen, reading the words of the scene I was into before I fell asleep.
He looks to me, a smirk on his lush lips, then he goes back to reading. After a few minutes of me inwardly panicking that he will think I am some kinky woman, he locks the Kindle, and sets it on the coffee table before bringing his heated gaze to me.
Oh, those are some dark, sexy eyes right now. My breath hitches in my throat, as he moves forward. He is so close that his hot breath brushes over my lips, making me shiver.
“You like this?” I nod. “You read about two men fucking the same woman. Sharing her, then they fuck each other.” I swallow, then nod.
My body comes alive when he leans in that bit more, pressing his lips against mine.
“Would you like me to share you with another man, baby? The both of us making you cry out, while one fucks your pussy, and the other fucks your ass.”
Fucking hell, that escalated rather quickly.
He licks my bottom lip, and my body trembles from that one lick.
“Yes,” slips free before I can stop it. My face heats up, and I close my eyes so that I do not have to see the way he is looking at me.
A boyfriend in college looked at me like I grew a second head when I offered for his friends to join us. Safe to say that I got dumped the next day, and even Wayne had some choice words about my likes in the bedroom.
He growls, smashing his mouth against mine. I squeak and he slips his tongue inside of my mouth, his hands gripping me. He moves so fast that one second I am sitting on the sofa and the next I am straddling his hips, my skirt pushed up my thighs.
He takes my mouth again, his hands gripping my ass, his fingers flexing against the globes.
“Fuck, what I wouldn’t give to slip inside of you right now.” His throaty voice slides over my skin, making me melt and my panties damp.
“So do it,” I say before I can stop any thought that this might be a bad idea.
He looks at me for a beat then he reaches up, removing my glasses from my face.
“I will fuck you in just these one day, baby.” His voice is thick with desire, and my nipples react to the sound as it vibrates through me.
“This needs to come off.” He helps me out of my T-shirt, dropping it to the side, then his eyes take me in, roaming over the lace bra.
“We can’t do this here, Kohen. The children might come down the stairs and I do not want them to be scarred for life, seeing their father defiling some woman.” My voice quivers with arousal.
“You make a good point, baby, but my kids sleep like the dead. I have checked on them and they are sound asleep. No more stalling, Mads. I need to have you.” His mouth latches onto my nipple beneath my bra, making me arch into him.
His hands slip up my back, the palms rough against my smooth skin.
Moving my hands between us, my mind in a fog of desire and lust, I make quick work of his belt, then open his jeans. Reaching in I pull out his thick hard cock, and my eyes widen in trepidation, shock, and excitement.
“That is not going to fit.” I gasp.
He gives me a lopsided grin, before resting his hands on my bare thighs. Pushing the material of my skirt up to my hips, I expose the matching thong I am wearing to him.
