“Did she say or do anything?” he asks.
“No, but she was acting kind of weird. Claimed she wanted to make sure Daniels was dead.”
Martin’s brow furrows.
“And,” I add. “She had a key.”
“To the Lake Oswego house?” he confirms.
“Yeah.”
“Well, she did live there once upon a time, I’m surprised Harrison didn’t take it away.”
“I’m sure he did, but I’m also sure the girls had a key.”
“Good point,” Martin says.
“Uh, sir?” the tech guy calls out.
I turn toward him. “Yeah?”
“So, we can recover it, it’s going to take a little time and I have to wait for the office to upload the software I need so I can download it.”
“How long is a little time?” I ask.
“Couple hours.”
“Get on it,” Martin says.
Martin and I leave to grab some coffee at the deli near his office.
“How’s Genevieve?” Martin asks.
“Freaking out. Harrison’s twins won’t call her back. She’s convinced they think she’s guilty.”
“I meant, how are you with Genevieve.”
“Fine. Why do you ask?”
“Really, Ty?”
I shake my head. “I fucked her.” Then rub my face with my hands.
Martin just nods, like he was expecting it.
“What?” I ask.
“You still love her,” he says.
“So?”
“So, there’s still a slim chance she’s guilty. Be careful.”
I shake my head. “Nah, man. I don’t think she’s got it in her.”
Martin shrugs.
“Don’t do that. Not my dick talking.”
