Let it go, Ty. That was another life.
“So, yes on the fucking,” I say.
She nods.
“Was it good?”
Silence.
“What’s the matter? Cat got your tongue?”
Silence still.
“Was. It. Good?” I repeat.
She shakes her head.
“He couldn’t get it up?”
“No, he could.”
“Couldn’t keep it up.” I snicker. “If I remember correctly, you need it up and you need it hard. Ain’t that right, Genie?”
“It was fine.”
“Fine?Fine?Fucking should never befine.Who the hell are you, Genevieve?”
“Harrison and I were—”
“Were what?”
“We were not sexually compatible.”
“What the fuck does that mean?”
“The sexual attraction in our relationship was one-sided.”
“Whose?” My voice is rough. I don’t like that I need confirmation on the answer.
“His.” Her chin drops to her chest, cheeks burning.
“Did you cheat on him?”
“Of course not. I would never hurt him in that way.”
“But you could lay there like a dead fish when he fucked you?”
“It wasn’t like that,” she protests.
“How was it, Genevieve?” I can’t help but ask.
“He just enjoyed it more than I did.”
I sit back in my chair, cross my arms over my chest, and let the smug as fuck feeling shine through on my face. “Couldn’t make you come.”
She doesn’t respond. Just continues looking at her coffee like it holds all the answers to life’s questions.
“Any reason anyone would want to kill him?”
