Page 72 of Suck This
Our mouths met in an explosion of passion.
My hands moved to her lower back where I pulled her in so tight that not a millimeter of space separated us.
But it was as she was encircling her arms around my neck that I realized my mistake.
If I made this jump. If I did this… I wouldn’t be able to let go.
I wouldn’t be able to let her go.
And, regardless of my earlier words, I wasn’t a heartless man.
I couldn’t put her through that when I knew that her heart was already partially invested.
I pulled away from her, and she cried out in defiance.
“No,” I said. “We can’t.”
She didn’t like that answer.
I could tell.
But it was the only one that she was going to get.
Our breathing ragged, she asked me what I could tell she’d been wanting to ask me since I’d told her the story of my child.
“What happened?” she asked. “Tell me everything. Your daughter. Tell me everything.”
I looked at her and told her every single gory detail, ending with how I’d buried my daughter that’d been nothing but a burnt husk of a shell.
“You can’t give up,” she pleaded. “Can’t you see that you’re letting them win?”
I didn’t care.
With her, I wasn’t willing to take that chance. Not ever again.
“Then they win.”
Her eyes cried out.
“Please,” she cried softly. “You can’t do this.”
I walked forward and wiped away the tears with a sweep of my thumb.
“You have one more night,” I told her. “Then everything you know about me is finished.”
She shook her head.
“I won’t accept that.” She poked me in the chest. “I won’t. I can’t.”
I slammed my mouth down onto hers, and she moaned, wrapping those long arms around my neck and holding on for all she was worth.
I allowed her to, bringing that delicious body that would tempt a fuckin’ monk and forced her to feel every single long inch of me.
“You make me forget to breathe,” she whispered into my ear, her hot breath on the pulse of my neck.
“You make me forget to be the man I am,” I countered. “And that spells death.”
She shifted, and it was then I realized she came into my club without anything under that hot dress of hers.
