I quickly open the app on my phone and press record. Mason had a camera set up in my office, in case Silla stopped by unexpectedly. “I just hit record.”
“Okay, good. She’s on her way. I’ll be right outside.”
I bite back a laugh. “Of course you will.”
Dez and Hudson know about Silla and her involvement in Callie’s accidents, as well as the embezzlement and the life insurance policy. There was no way I was keeping my partners in the dark. The reason we are successful is because we stick together, and that doesn’t extend to only business. Those guys are my best friends, and just like I would do anything for them, they would do anything for me.
The door flies open, and Silla zooms in on her broomstick. Fine, I’m exaggerating. She storms in on her thousand-dollar red sole stilettos, in a cloud of cloying sweet perfume.
A fake smile spreads across my face as I stand and greet the demon witch. “Silla, it’s a pleasure to see you. How are you?”
“Where is Callie?” she hisses, not bothering with pleasantries. Her forehead and lips look refreshed, so I’m guessing she was at another one of her plastic surgery spas.
“Hello to you too, Silla.” I coolly take a seat, leaving her to stand in the middle of my office with her hip cocked in her way-too-tight red dress.
“Cut the shit, Eli, and tell me where I can find Callie.” I almost miss the flash of fear in her livid glare. The lack of her control over Callie scares her.
I lean back in my chair and steeple my fingers. “That’s none of your concern.”
Silla huffs. “Callie needs to get off her lazy ass and back to rehearsals. She has a tour starting soon. People are counting on her to get paid.”
Oh, I’m sure you are, you hateful bitch.
Pushing away my rising fury, I keep my tone calm. “She’s resting. She’ll be back when she’s ready. Until then…” I shrug nonchalantly.
Silla and I both know Callie is with me and there isn’t a damn thing she can do about it.
“The little rat has to come out of her hidey hole at some point. You can’t hide her away forever.”
Just breathe. She’s trying to push your buttons.
My jaw ticks. “Never said I was, but you don’t need to worry about her.”
Silla scoffs. “That’s where you’re wrong. Just because you’re fucking the slut, it doesn’t mean she belongs to you.”
Okay, now she’s just trying to piss me off.
“Jealous?”
Her nostrils flare, giving her away. She tries to recover, but I already saw the chink in her armor. She flicks her wrist in disgust, her long claws clacking together. “Don’t be absurd. She can have you.”
“Oh, she has me alright.”
Silla snarls, and how I never saw the depths of her vileness makes me want to kick past me’s ass again. If I had just grown a pair and gone after Callie before, I would have been able to stop Silla much sooner.
“Tell me where your little whore is before you make me angry.”
“Is that a threat, Silla?”
“Take it however you want. I own Callie. She’s nothing without me.”
“Agree to disagree. But don’t worry. I’m taking fantastic care of your sister for you.” I wink, letting her know I’m aware of the truth.
At that, she almost loses her temper but catches herself, thinking better of it, and juts her tits and chin out like she has something to be proud of. “Oh, I’m sure you are,” she sneers. “But the little tramp is my client, and I have a right to know where you’re keeping her.”
The way she keeps talking about my woman is pissing me the fuck off. My eye twitches as anger burns through my veins, threatening to burst into flames. “No, you don’t. If Callie wants to speak to you, she will reach out. But don’t hold your breath. She wants nothing to do with you.”
“She doesn’t have a choice.”
