Saba pushed open the door to her old bedchamber. It had been weeks since she’d last stepped inside, searching now for a shawl she may have left in the wardrobe. Her eyes darted around, and then she gasped.

Her gaze landed on the coat stand.

Where the veil she had abandoned now hung, a haunting reminder of the moment Mak had flung it in her face.

She shivered, recalling his pain over her betrayal.

With a gasp, she moved closer, hand covering her mouth in disbelief.

Once shredded and tattered, the mantle was now renewed.

Every rip and tear had been mended, the dark lace dotted with sparkling gems.

The intricate fabric fluttered in the breeze stirred by her movement, shimmering with newfound vibrancy. The diamonds had been replaced and now glistened in the sunlight.

‘How?’ she gasped, running her fingers over the gems that glittered in the light streaming through the windows.

They radiated energy; the former, now ripped sections, were aglow with their old beauty. She stroked the soft, silken material, overwhelmed by its delicate texture.

Now, it stood as a symbol of the unbreakable bond between her and Mak, a miraculous sign of hope and redemption in the wake of darkness and despair.

She held the mantilla to her face, letting the fragile weave touch her skin, tears of wonder and gratitude streaming down her cheeks.

Without another moment to lose, she rushed out of the bedchamber, clutching the shroud in her hands.

In the library, she found Mak standing over a floor-to-ceiling shelf, nose deep in a book. He glanced up, giving her a lopsided, endearing smile.

‘What is it, love?’ he rasped.

Saba inhaled. ‘My wedding veil. Did you repair it, honey?’

Mak’s eyes softened as she pressed the delicate mantilla into his grasp, her tears welling up.

He took the fabric, holding it between them. The intricate patterns caught the light, casting a beautiful display of colors around them.

‘It’s more valuable now than ever,’ he murmured.

‘What do you mean?’ she whispered.

He turned his eyes to her. ‘Let’s never take the diamonds off. We’ll keep them on forever as a reminder that even the most broken bonds can be mended with healing, time, and perseverance.’

Saba smiled through her tears. ‘That’s the most poetic thing you’ve said to me.’

He reached out, wiping the moisture from her cheeks in a moment of profound significance.

‘Can’t help myself, woman,’ he rumbled. ‘You bring it out of me.’

They both gazed at the veil’s restored beauty, a tangible memento of redemption and second chances.

‘Babe,’ Mak murmured, bending to kiss her lips, his voice rumbling against them. ‘It’s my vow to cherish and protect our future.’

‘ Naam , let’s,’ she replied, surprised when, still holding the veil, Mak dropped to one knee and took her hand.

She almost asked what he was doing, but held back when she witnessed the earnestness in his eyes.

‘You brought so much light and life into my realm,’ he said. ‘Will you continue to ignite my fire and illuminate my world? Will you be mine? My forever sacred love? Say you’ll make me the happiest man alive?’

Saba realized he was rewriting their vows, undoing the pain of their initial union. With a laugh, she leaned in and kissed him long and hard.

‘ Naam . Yes, yes. I do, my ?ar .’

Mak rose to his feet, a smile playing at the corners of his mouth. ‘Let’s never let our love be veiled and clouded from each other. We must always celebrate every present moment together, in passion, devotion, trust, and unwavering affection.’

‘So be it, my ?arrum , my star-marked wolf,’ Saba murmured, folding into his embrace, lost in the intensity of his promise and sensual touch.
