MAK

M ak and Saba made their way back to the skiff.

Taking Deimos’ wrist comm out of his pocket, Mak handed it, along with the pad he had found in the Codex’s man’s vessel, to his brother.

‘You now have carte blanche to go ballistic with what you discover on those two devices. Whatever it takes to bring freakin’ Nightshade and Codex the fokk down.’

‘Nice work, Saba,’ Kaal grunted as he gave Mak a raised chin jerk and stalked off.

With that, Mak helped Saba into their craft.

‘You OK?’ he growled.

She blinked, then nodded.

‘That was unbelievable. So wild,’ his wife murmured.

Hell, she was plucky. She’d not uttered a scream or gasp throughout the entire incident.

Instead, she’d laid waste to a squadron of enraged sachem .

Mak arched a brow. ‘You’re quite the warrior, babe. I could use you in future raids.’

They exchanged long looks till her lips curved up at the ends. ‘Put me to task, ?arrum .’

He jolted. ‘Did you just call me your King?’

‘I did. The highest form of endearment an Akkadian woman can give her man.’

‘Fokk , that makes you my queen, my ?arratum.’

‘I can work with that,’ she simpered.

Mak’s heart lurched for his woman as he lowered his mouth and gave her a prolonged, melting kiss.

She moaned and arched her back into his hold until he pulled away, with a groan.

‘You’ve got me strung out, woman.’

Tapping into a colossal amount of control, he stroked her cheek, his eyes glittering with a coming promise.

Turning away, he started up the engines and prepped to dust off from the rear airlock of Kaal’s corvette.

Soon, they were racing through the heavens back to The Sombra .

Saba leaned her head on his shoulder, her ease with him, damn her freakin’ sensuality, draped next to him, setting him off.

He placed the skiff on autopilot as their eyes locked in a heated exchange, the craving they shared palpable.

Then Mak’s arm slid behind her waist, pulling her close.

He savored the perfect moment of peace, laced with a burgeoning craving and throb straight to his shaft.

‘You OK working with your ?ar like that to slaughter the enemy?’ he growled, burying his face in her nape.

She shivered as if almost imploding with yearning as his lips brushed the back of her neck.

‘My ?ar and I as ruthless assassins taking out immoral creatures? I freakin’ loved it. I want more.

He chuckled. ‘What in Devansi hell have I unleashed?’

She sliced her eyes at him. ‘Only the wildest part of me.’

Mak groaned into her nape, breathing in her scent, high on her.

He was fokked every which way, to Pegasi and back again.

SABA

Mak’s warm breath on Saba’s nape sent shivers down her spine, igniting a fire within her.

As the flyer sped through the heavens towards the Sombra, his gaze scorched as he stared at her, his touch setting her skin ablaze.

With an irresistible pull, she turned to face him, her hand instinctively reaching for the back of his head.

Mak closed the gap between them without a word, his mouth capturing hers in yet another searing kiss that spoke of passion and longing. Their fingers intertwined in a desperate embrace.

They got lost in each other for a timeless moment, the world around them fading into insignificance. It was just them, their souls entwined in an intoxicating dance of infatuation and desire.

Mak groaned against her lips, his hold on her tightening.

The thrum of the engine covered up their soft keening and moans as they soared into the Sombra’s rear stern, the twinkling landing lights welcoming them.

It took all of Saba’s strength not to scream her frustration when Mak tore his mouth from hers.

‘Soon,’ he promised with a growl, his eyes aflame with raw lust.

Panting, her slit wet and pulsing, her nipples on fire, she tried to calm down by laying her head on his shoulder. Still, her heart brimmed with emotions she couldn’t quite describe.

They transferred from the skiff to a flyer and headed to Deck 27, where Mak helped her out of the craft and led her home in the cool night air.

The lodge was silent as they descended the grand staircase toward Mak’s wing.

He guided her, her hand in his, as they traversed the long corridor to his primary chamber.

Inside, the rich velvet curtains framed the spacious windows, letting in just enough moonlight to illuminate the room with silver shards.

Lighting up the intricate tapestries, wood floors, and luxurious rugs in deep shades of red and gold.

He gestured for her to sit on the plush divan before heading to the extensive cocktail bar.

Moments later, he returned with two glasses of aged whiskey, the amber liquid swirling in the crystal tumblers.

They clinked their flutes together in a silent toast, taking a sip. The rich, smoky flavor warmed her from the inside out.

The night’s events replayed in her mind like a vivid holo. Each moment etched into her memory with striking clarity.

Mak settled beside her on the sofa, his scrutiny tender as he gazed at her. ‘Today was unforgettable,’ he murmured.

She met his gaze as a rush of emotions hit her.

‘It was,’ she breathed.

The scorch of his heated eyes was electrifying, sending a shiver down her spine.

‘I enjoyed seeing another side of you, wife,’ Mak continued, reaching out to tuck a loose strand of hair behind her ear.

‘And I, you.’

She gave him a lazy smile, loving how safe and cherished she felt in his arms, as if it was where she belonged.

She savored the warmth that radiated from him. ‘Not so bad yourself. Fact is, you’re one scary mofo.’

She caught sight of her face in the living room mirror hanging above the fire.

Her face was flushed, and her locks tousled.

Her expression was sultry and provocative, like that of a woman who craved affection.

Heat filled her cheeks.

Had she been staring at Mak like that?

She glanced back at him.

His eyes searched her face, and without breaking eye contact, he knifed in closer, his mouth brushing against hers in a gentle caress.

With a moan, she turned to kiss him thoroughly, their lips and tongues dancing, the crackling inferno providing a comforting soundtrack to their burgeoning intimacy.

As they broke apart, his mouth quirked. ‘I think it’s time they made some new memories together. Don’t you?’ he rasped, his voice filled with promise.

She nodded, her heart racing.

He rose to his feet in all his sleek, panther-like glory.

Taking her hand, with a quirk to his mouth, he placed her in front of his chest and walked them to his bed.

The expansive floor-to-ceiling windows let in the moonlight, casting a soft glow over the room.

He paused, running his hands over her chest, cupping her tits, and squeezing her taut nipples, which only heightened her excitement.

His heartbeat thumped against her spine, and he lowered his head so the heat of his exhalation whispered over her nape.

It was the most sensual sensation on the planet.

He turned her around, his fingers digging into her ass with fever, his touch sending sparks of desire through her veins.

With a tenderness that took her breath away, Mak trailed kisses down her neck, igniting a fire between us.

Their clothes fell away, discarded in their haste to be closer.

She shucked her dress and underwear while he ripped his shirt and trousers off.

Skies over Savarti, how hot was he?

His face was sculpted, angled, and chiseled, with full and sensuous lips.

When those mesmerizing amber eyes locked onto her, she gasped, unable to handle his beauty, more so his soul shining through, which wrecked her essence.

So she tore her eyes and moved lower.

He stood before her, his body a canvas of ink and muscle, each mark on his skin telling a story she longed to unravel.

Her eyes traced the curves and lines of his glowing tattoos, mesmerized by the intricate patterns and the deep meaning behind every one.

Starting at his broad shoulders, where black pigment swirled in tribal shapes that hugged the corded slope of his neck.

Every scarification and score represented the lessons learned, the battles fought, the victories earned, and the raw power he held beneath that art.

The designs stretched down his arms, curling over the biceps that flexed as he moved. The blueprints shifted with him like they might lift off him at any moment, and her fingers itched to trace them.

His chest was a masterpiece, an expanse of skin adorned with symbols. The curves of his ribs, etched in Akkadian script, were inked to display his most profound beliefs, his core.

Some of his scars were jagged shapes, evidence of his ruthlessness and legendary fighting skills. She couldn’t help but admire that strength, how he wore his past pain with pride, not shame.

His stomach was firm and defined. The sinewed and veined hardness of his biceps and his hips left her breathless.

She reached a hand out in wonder and traced the heated, pulsing designs. ‘I’ve never seen a man more beautiful,’ she whispered.

On his solid legs, the patterns were more abstract, as if they were charting a path leading somewhere only he knew. His calves, too, were covered in ink.

She stood there, drinking him in and loving every inch of him, each mark and curve.

The glyphs and sigils didn’t just sit on his skin; they were part of him, flowing like blood and breath.

They made him more than a man; they transformed him into a living, breathing story. She was captivated by it all.

Then, her eyes fell to his groin.

Rising from it was his thick, veined cock.

So enormous it pulsed against his tummy, reaching beyond his belly button.

It was the first time she’d ever seen her husband in all his naked glory. She feasted her eyes on the incredible size of it and, even more mesmerizing, the glow from his cockhead.

It radiated under his skin and spread like wildfire, lighting up the scarred and inked designs all over his limbs, flaming along the lines of his tattooed scars.

‘How is this possible?’

‘It’s the Path of Inner Light, which inflames the cock when aroused,’ he rasped, his intonation husky with need. ‘For your endless pleasure.’
