Chapter seventeen
Dacre
I pound my fist into a punching bag over and over, picturing the smug face of Xavier’s twin as I grit my teeth.
So, he was the reason why I had to rescue that helpless Omega from that fire.
He is the reason why she is quiet and reserved, and why she feels the need to lie to us about her real name.
That bastard. I swear, if I ever get my hands on him…
But I can’t act on my need for vengeance. I am a model citizen, a member of a fire department. I will not get my fangs and claws out and ruin my reputation.
Dane is still eager for that double date with Halle, but I don’t think Ruby is quite ready yet.
I don’t even know what I am to her. I’m hardly her Alpha because I’m down in the gym rather than up in her nest with her.
Even Xavier is up there with her, satisfying her, while I wallow in self-pity.
Screw this.
I have to get out of the house. It reeks of her pleasure, and I’m not quite ready to give myself over to her yet.
Not when I don’t even know her real name.
So, I find the showers in the gym, washing away the sweat with cold water. It also helps me to forget about Ruby.
Just for the moment.
But it’s not quite enough, so I fist my cock and jerk off until I paint the tiles of the shower with my cum.
The water washes it away, and now I switch off the jets, stepping out of the shower to dry myself off.
I have to get out of this house. Have to get away…
And there’s only one place I have on my mind.
Finding my car keys, I move to the garage, climb inside my car, and then drive off.
Distance is what I need. But my Alpha still whimpers like a helpless mutt as I rev the engine, having one destination on my mind.
***
I park the car in a side street and glare at that old warehouse. It looks unoccupied, but that couldn’t be farther from the truth.
This is the Wolf’s hideout.
It's a few blocks from the garage where I found Ruby. This must have been where she escaped from, and I grip the steering wheel, grinding my teeth as I fight back a growl.
The Wolf hasn't shown his face yet. But a few of his mindless goons have come and gone, leaving and entering the warehouse armed to the teeth with guns.
When three familiar Betas come out of the rusted door, my growling intensifies.
The Pigs.
I thought I spied pig tracks the night of the fire. But Ruby told us that it was just kids who'd been chasing her, and who almost killed her, too.
It’s only then that I notice the small bound figure in their arms, and she looks to be the size of an Omega.
Another snarl escapes me.
It seems Ruby isn't the only victim of the Wolf.
The Omega has some fight in her, too. She steps on Napoleon’s foot, making a bid for escape. When Will reaches out to grab her, he rips off her hood, and my Alpha stills.
The Omega is an older woman, a senior citizen.
Someone’s fucking grandma.
How dare they…
There’s no missing her gray hair now, but despite her age, she’s a fighter.
“Fuck you, swine cunts!” she yells, and she has quite the mouth on her.
Unfortunately, George catches up with her, tossing her over his shoulder, kicking and screaming.
“Okay, Grandma," he grunts. "It’s way past your bedtime...”
They throw her in the backseat of a truck, then speed up the road.
I should call the police. They have a sweet old lady in their custody... Scratch sweet, they have a feisty older lady in their custody.
Who is she?
It doesn’t matter now. I only came here to do some reconnaissance, and I’ve long outstayed my welcome.
So, I drive back to the house.
I have to tell the guys what I saw. Somehow, I have a feeling that the older lady has something to do with Ruby.
Something grave.
