I’ve possibly messed up.
Damn doubt crept in again. What if he didn’t want more of this? What if he saw this as an error of judgment and he’d left to scrub me off him?
The good mood suddenly dead, the sheets feeling cold, I hit the shower again.
I never want to wash him off…
But I did. Because maybe that’d be for the best. Keep this as a one-time thing. Two men needing to get off, clearing the cobwebs, finding a friendship in its wake.
Just friends, sans fucking.
How depressing.
Man, I hated my brain sometimes.
Done with showering, I dressed and picked up an email Mum had sent to everyone.
Dear all,
I understand you are all taking time to recharge after recent events, but I have important news to share with you.
Meet me in the living room at eight o’clock this evening to discuss the following two points, please.
1.The Winter Palace has finallyresponded to Aaron. They have stressed that the fae woman is dangerous and we must cease any dealings with her. She is, according to them, a caged monster to be left alone. Of course, this isn’t good enough seeing as this supposed cage monster is reaching out as she is. Aaron is already drafting a response.
However, we do have a name now: Piper. No surname as of yet.
They have also said that the sea beyond the peninsula is heavily guarded, although there have been some reports of a man arriving on the coast some time ago, which must have been Jonathon. No specific details have been given.
2.Jake has received word from Stefan about the shimmer witches. It appears they are part of a new coven led by a person claiming to be bringing change to the world through the Hecate Crystals. Other than that, they have given nothing else away, and their torture has resumed.
If you would like to speak with me before eight, I will be in my office all day.
I apologize for this email, but I wanted you to know sooner rather than later.
Kindest Regards,
Erin
I didn’t want to wait until eight. Slipping on some trainers, I crossed the landing, pausing at the top of stairs when I heard Isaac’s voice from the floor below.
“I’m kind of busy right now,” he said, sounding pissed off.
Who was he talking to?
Chapter 32
ISAAC
Echoes of his kisses lingered on my lips, which were currently spread into a beaming grin.
I floated on dreamy clouds, wondering if it really happened. If I’d really tasted him, experienced him inside me.
Of course it happened. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be worrying about him calling it a mistake.
Please don’t…
That’s why I left, to avoid a major comedown in my euphoria. I wanted to hold onto this delusion a tad longer. Anyway, I had a little brother to talk to.
