Fury

If I weren’t standing before Shane Keller in the flesh, I would have never believed the fucker was alive and well, and if the look he was giving me was any indication, he was about to kill me before Sandman or Savage could.

I really fucking hated the Golden Skulls.

“I know I don’t really have a say here, but are you sure about him, Charlotte, ’cause say the word and I will gut him then get you and my grandson out of this fucking place fast?”

“I wouldn’t have made it out of the city without him, Dad. Please trust me. I know what I’m doing.”

Shane Keller narrowed his eyes and pointed his finger right in my face. “I don’t like you. You ain’t good enough for her.”

Gulping, I nodded as everyone around us laughed.

Slapping me on my back, King smirked. “Ah, fathers-in-law. Thank fuck I don’t have one. My condolences, Fury.”

I growled, turning toward the fucker and asked, “How is Steel by the way, asshole?”

And just like that, King’s laughter stopped.

I leaned in close so only he could hear and whispered, “Does he know yet?”

“Let’s get this shit over with,” King shouted, moving away from me. “I’ve got my own fucked-up family to take care of. Matlock, you’re up.”

Watching as my best friend stood before us, the fucker grinned, then cleared his throat. “I gotta ask. You sure you want him, Carly, ’cause he’s still a work in progress? Not sure even you can set him straight. He’s got a nasty temper and farts in his sleep, but his ma is the best cook in the city, so that’s a plus.”

Carly chuckled and nodded. “Yeah. I’m sure.”

“Don’t say I didn’t warn ya. Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today...”

Five minutes later, it was done. I was officially and more importantly, legally married to a Golden Princess.

God have mercy on my soul.

“Daddy,” I heard my daughter Bri whisper loudly while she tugged on my pant leg. “Is Carly my momma now?”

Looking at Carly, who smiled down at my little girl, I said nothing as she kneeled before her. “Brianna, I will be whatever you want me to be, sweetheart.”

I remained silent when Brianna looked at her sister Andi, then over at Drew, who stood next to his grandfather and pointed. “If Carly’s my momma, can you be my grandpa too?”

Shane Keller smiled broadly as he bent to pick up my daughter. “I’d love to be your grandpa, gorgeous.”

“Daddy, do I have a grandpa?” a little girl named Charlie asked loudly, as her dad, Jackass, held her close.

“You sure do. He’s right there.” The brother grinned, pointing his finger right at King, who rolled his eyes while flipping Jackass the one-finger bird.

Charlie giggled. “That’s Unka King, Daddy.”

“He’s both, Shortcake.”

“You can share my Pop-pop, Charlie,” another little girl named Chrissy happily offered, as her younger sister, Tabby, nodded.

“Alright, girls, let’s go have some cake,” a woman named Ellie said as she ushered the two girls out of the room, followed by Charlie and her mother Sam and the rest of the women.

“Nav got you both on the eleven o’clock flight out of Cheyenne to LaGuardia,” King informed, walking over to hand me several papers. “You should land around three in the afternoon. From there, you should know your way home. If you get into trouble, call me. Jingles and Matlock have offered to fly out since they are from the area. I will wait twenty-four hours before I call Reaper and tell him the news.”

“That doesn’t give us enough time,” Carly whispered, looking at me.

“I wish I could give you both more, but the law is clear. Twenty-four hours is all you get.”

“And Montana?” Carly asked as King looked at me expectantly.

Sighing, I looked down at my new wife and simply replied, “Depending on his mood, he will issue Blood of a Sinner or kill me outright, but you, he will happily use you to bring Reaper to heal.”

“That ain’t gonna happen,” Shane said, walking over minus my daughter. Looking around, I saw Blade’s woman Beck, ushering my girls and Drew into the kitchen. “No matter where you go, someone will always be there. Trust in that, Charlotte. Ain’t no one ever gonna use you as a bargaining chip again.”

Carly nodded, gripping my hand tightly.

“And the kids?”

“Just waiting on our ride, baby girl,” Shane said as the last person I ever thought I’d ever see walked into the clubhouse unannounced.

Walking over to him, I hugged my brother as if my life depended on it. So fucking glad to see him, I whispered, “Linsey?”

“Alive,” Vicious said hoarsely, his voice full of emotion as he slapped my back for good measure. Releasing me, he looked around the room and asked, “Where are the girls?”

“In the kitchen having cake and ice cream,” King said, extending his hand as I stepped back, letting the two men shake hands.

“I don’t know if you remember me, Vicious, but we met once when you stayed at our Mother Chapter in Arkansas.”

Vicious nodded. “Good to see you again, King. I see you finally got your own chapter. Good for you.”

“What’s the word, Vicious?” Shane asked, ignoring the pleasantries.

“It’s not good. Montana is digging in his heels. He’s challenging the ruling of the table, demanding a clemency hearing with them and Reaper. The table is considering it to avoid all-out war. To make matters worse, Reaper’s been silent. No one has heard shit out of him since the table made the ruling.”

“That’s not fucking good,” King muttered.

“Got that right. A silent Reaper is a deadly one. To make matters worse, Montana is having a hard time contacting several of the chapters.”

“What do you mean?” I asked, confused.

“What I said,” Vicious replied. “They aren’t answering the call.”

“Compromised?”

“More like they are tired of Montana’s shit. That motherfucker has had ample opportunity to do the right thing from the second he took over the chair, and he’s refused every time. I think the other clubs are tired of covering for him.”

“Who’s still at the club?”

“After you, me, and Storm left, Montana locked down the club tight. No one in or out.”

“How do you know that?”

“Because I told him,” Bane said, walking into the Silver Shadows’ clubhouse and heading straight for the bar. “I’ll take a shot of whiskey.”

“You give him that drink, and I will beat your ass, kid,” Vicious sneered at the young man behind the bar who looked directly at King.

“Uh, King?”

“Do as he says, Prospect.”

Looking at Vicious, I asked, “What the fuck is Bane doing here?”

“Found him walking out of the sheriff’s station. Something about someone forging his signature. It doesn’t matter. You need to take him back to New York with you. I can’t take him with me.”

“Well, I don’t want him!”

“He can stay here until he’s sober,” King offered.

“Good luck with that,” I snarked. “Fucker can find liquor like a bloodhound. Damn good doctor, but he’s a drunk.”

“Not drunk.” Bane slurred, damn near slipping from his stool.

Rolling my eyes, I groaned when I looked at my watch. “Carly and I need to get on the road if we’re going to catch that plane.”

“Ghost and Jingles will follow in case of trouble. Call when you land,” King said, shaking my hand as two Silver Shadows’ brothers headed for the front door.

Turning to Shane Keller, I said, “Please take care of our kids. Those girls are my life.”

“Does that now include my daughter and grandson?”

Looking at Carly, I nodded. “Yes, sir.”

“My grandbabies will be fine. Go, do what you need to.”

“The kids will be fine,” Vicious added, quickly hugging me. “Linsey sends her love.”

Nodding, I grabbed Carly’s hand as we followed the two men out of the clubhouse.

Like King said, we landed at LaGuardia at three in the afternoon on the dot. After disembarking the plane, I easily hailed a cab that would take us directly to Davenport Tower.

Neither Carly nor I had said much to each other after we left the clubhouse in Nebraska. I didn’t know about her, but I fucking hated the idea of being separated from my girls. I didn’t lie when I said they were my world. They were. They were the very best of me. I did, however, feel a smidge better knowing that Vicious and Shane would be taking them to Linsey. I knew my girls would be thrilled to see their aunt and cousins again.

“Do you think he’s okay?” I heard Carly whisper as she watched New York City fly past while the cab weaved in and out of traffic.

Reaching for her hand, I chuckled. “I’m sure he’s fine. Surrounded by five little girls, Drew has probably sought refuge with his grandfather or Vicious. I know I would.”

“I’ve never been away from him.”

“Carly, he will be in your arms before you know it. As soon as we find the information we’re looking for, we never have to step foot back in this city again.”

She lightly sniffed, nodding her head.

Thanks to city traffic, the cab finally pulled up in front of Davenport Tower, two fucking hours after we landed. Tired of sitting, I quickly got out of the cab and held out my hand for Carly, and together we walked back into the building where we first met.

“Back where we started.” She smirked, stepping into the elevator.

“Only this time, we know the score.”

The second the elevator stopped on my floor and the doors opened, I reached inside my coat for my gun. Pulling back on the chamber, I loaded a bullet as I slowly looked both ways before exiting. Heading straight for my door, I quickly unlocked it and stepped in, closing the door behind me.

“How long do you think we have before they know you’re back?”

“Depending on who’s watching the feeds, maybe ten minutes. Twenty, if we’re lucky, before they show up.”

“So, gather what we can, right?”

“Exactly.” I smiled, heading straight for my office, only to find Montana Stone sitting behind my desk, pointing a gun right at me.

“Hello, Fury.”
