Fury
“Everyone, take a fucking seat,” Mercy ordered, finding his chair.
“Any word on Prez?” Payne asked, just as Snoopy walked in and offered, “Thought you could use all the help you could get.”
“Thanks, man.” Mercy nodded, motioning for him to take a seat. “Really appreciate it. As for Montana, he’s still in surgery. Bane said he would call when he had news.”
The door opened, and in walked Nikandr and Dmitry, who added without pretense, “Vladmir is also still in surgery.”
“Will he live?” Mercy asked.
“He better or Maxim will kill him.” Nikandr smirked as Rico and Romeo Romano strolled in next.
“Jesus, you guys sure know how to cause a fucking scene.” Rico grinned. “Renaldo is downtown, gathering information and offering assistance. It’s a mess over there. Renaldo told us to make ourselves useful. So, what do you need from us?”
Taking a deep breath, Mercy stated, “As of right now, I’m locking down the clubhouse until we know more.”
“No,” I clearly said.
“Don’t have a choice, Fury. Until this shit clears over, we all need to stick together.”
Ignoring him, I growled, “Where are my girls?”
“They are safe.”
Slowly shaking my head, I sneered at my brother. “Won’t fucking ask you again. Where?”
Mercy relented and said, “All the kids are with Storm and Delany at their place.”
Getting to my feet, I said nothing as I headed for the door.
“Fury, you can’t leave!” Mercy shouted after me. “I need you here.”
Turning toward the man I considered a brother, I asked, “Tell me, Mercy. How long have you known?”
Confused, he asked, “Known what?”
“That I’m the grandson of Casper O’Malley and cousin to Reaper and Bullseye?”
Shocked, Rage sat up straighter and whispered, “What?”
Smirking, I nodded as I never took my eyes off Mercy. “Did you tell him? Or did you keep it to yourself? ’Cause I’d really like to know.”
Mercy slowly stood. “Chris, it’s not what you think.”
“Then tell me, Caleb, because from where I’m standing, this club has taken a page from the Golden Skulls’ handbook. How many more secrets are you keeping from us? We are your brothers. We don’t keep secrets from family!”
“Shame found the proof when he was digging into Largo’s past. He brought it to me. I had every intention of giving it to you, but shit got in the way, and I forgot.”
“You forgot!” I shouted, slamming my hands down on the table. “You are the fucking vice president of the biggest motorcycle club in the world. You forget nothing, Mercy! Speaking of Shame. Why didn’t this club investigate him after he died?”
“We had other things that mattered more.”
“More than our dead brother?”
“It wasn’t like that.” He sighed. “Montana didn’t feel it warranted further investigation.”
“HE WAS OUR brOTHER!”
“What is going on here, Mercy?” Payne spoke up. “’Cause from where I’m sitting, there seems to be a fuckton more going on than we know. So please, enlighten us.”
Mercy shook his head. “I can’t. Montana swore me to silence. He wants to be the one to tell you.”
“Fuck this shit,” I scoffed, reaching into the front pocket of my jeans. Cupping my medallion, I looked around the table and smirked. “If all of you want to sit on your asses and wait around, then that’s on you. But I won’t. I have three little girls that need me more than this fucking club does. So, I’m out.”
Throwing my Soulless Sinner Medallion on the boardroom table, I looked at Mercy and said, “My ticket to freedom. Don’t come for me. Don’t look for me. Just leave me and my girls alone.”
An hour later, I pulled into Storm and Delany’s long driveway, the gravel crunching under my tires when I parked. As I sat there, my gaze fixed on the imposing size of the house, I struggled to regain my composure and fight back the turbulent emotions that threatened to overwhelm me.
It should have been a wonderful night, filled with the sound of unrestrained laughter, the warmth of shared joy, and the making of memories to cherish forever. Instead, the night devolved into a terrifying nightmare, filled with chilling sounds and horrifying images I knew would forever be etched into my memory. I fucking knew there was no way in hell Vicious would stay if Linsey survived, not when he learned what I knew.
The Soulless Sinners were exploding, and nothing, not even Reaper, could save the club now. Secrets were storming out of the clubhouse faster than Montana could contain them, and when the dust settled, there would only be one club standing, and it wouldn’t be the Soulless Sinners.
I knew that now.
Reaching for my keys, I exited my vehicle and walked toward the front door when it opened. Standing there with his arms crossed over his chest, Storm looked at me but said nothing.
“I’m here for the girls.”
“You okay?”
Shaking my head, I muttered, “No, brother. I am not.”
“Mercy called.”
“Figured he would.”
“You sure about this?”
“Don’t have a choice.”
“You always have a choice. You told me that once, remember?”
I nodded. “Yeah, I remember.”
Stepping to the side, I walked past Storm to find a heavily pregnant Delany walking toward me. Hugging the woman, I muttered, “Sorry for the late visit, Del.”
“You are always welcome, Fury. Day or night.”
Kissing the woman’s cheek, I nodded, then looked around. “Where are the girls?”
“Sleeping in Harlow’s room. Vicious was here earlier. He took the twins and Elizabeth.”
“Did he say where he was going?”
“No,” Storm replied. “He didn’t say much of anything. Just asked for his girls and left. He wasn’t wearing his cut.”
Closing my eyes, I took a deep breath before looking at my former brother. “Figured that.”
“What the hell is going on?” Storm asked.
Looking around the place, I asked, “Where are Tessa and Largo?”
“No clue. They never showed up here, only your girls and Vicious’ kids.”
“He’s dividing us.”
“Who?”
“Montana.”
“Why?”
“Because he knows a war is coming. He is protecting his family, and we have Golden blood in our veins.”
“What are you talking about? Your last name is Moreno. You are Italian.”
I shook my head, refusing to say anything more about that, instead I said, “You need to get Delany and Harlow out of this state. Because if I’m right, he will use them as leverage. War is on the horizon, brother, so pick a side, and choose wisely.”
“You’re not making sense, Fury,” Storm groaned.
“Yes, he is,” Delany whispered, adding, “He’s talking about my blood ties to the Golden Skulls. Remi warned me this might happen. If Fury is right, then Harlow and I need to leave. Montana won’t think twice about using us as a bargaining chip to bring Reaper to heel.”
“I need to get my girls out of here.”
“Follow me,” Delany said. “I’ll help you.”
Looking in my backseat at my sleeping girls, I prayed I was doing the right thing. I never wanted this life for them. That’s why I stayed away. Then Davina died, and I didn’t know where they were until Linsey and Vicious showed up at the clubhouse and offered me a second chance. Well, more like Linsey didn’t give me a choice.
She was right though.
My girls needed me.
“I transferred everything over into your name. The club no longer has financial control of Duchene International or your business. The girls’ legacy is now in your hands. I also did the same for Vicious, so if you see him, tell him he’s in control of Van Otto Lapidary.”
“Thank you, Storm,” I said, looking at my brother.
“Where are you going to go?”
“Home for the night. In the morning, I will decide where to go from there. What about you?”
“Promised Delany she would always be safe, and I’m keeping my promise. I’ve got family in Montana and the Wyoming area. Might be a good place to lie low until the dust settles.”
Nodding, I extended my hand, and Storm took it. “Stay safe, brother. You need me, call.”
“The same goes for you,” Storm stated.
Pulling out of the driveway, I looked back to see Storm standing there watching, and I wondered if I would ever see him again.
Everything was changing, and when all was said and done, I knew nothing would ever be the same again.
