I finally feel her. The internal pull to go to her undeniable. The easy access to her bodily reactions a drug I want to bask in.

She came sooner than expected. I thought I’d have to rot on this island for at least another ten to twenty rotations. Seeing her in the flesh was a balm to my weary soul.

Those humans treated Aurora like she was nothing but a speak of dirt. An inconsequential annoyance to their day. I was lucky I finally had the strength and the opportunity to kill the high priestess when I did. My fingers twitch at the thought of slicing her throat again. When her eyes looked up at me, or Dove, in utter shock. It was priceless .

The high priestess had finally worn my pet down enough for me to undertake a full immersion of Auroras body. I’m not one to gloat, I am a god after all, but I do deserve most of the credit for Cardinal’s death.

Chuckling, I face the storm brewing over the open sea. This is the place I’ve watched her since the fates made her destiny known. Then, when I finally started to visit her dreams, I got to play the part of friend, but now all bets are off, finally we are tied together by my bond and she will have to return to me.

I shouldn’t want anything to do with the humans of this world. They were a creation I’d only discovered when they landed on my island centuries past, and I made that deal with the first human king of Haven. Well, he was the commander at the time, but after conquering the kingdom and running out the fae, he decided he would be the lord and saviour of his people. I admired his ruthless thinking , but he was also stupid. They were all stupid. None of them could see the bigger plan beyond what was happening in their own little worlds.

They overlooked people of greatness for a speck of power. If they only knew what real power felt like. What real freedom felt like.

Jumping up on the edge of the balcony I spread my wings. Wings that are made of stardust and magic. Magic—a strange word that means so many things. The humans don’t even see how it resides around them. How it grows in the heart of one of their own.

Fluffing out my ebony feathers, I stretch wide. A growing urge in my chest to fly to her. And I would, if it wasn’t for the invisible field around this island preventing me from leaving.

Oona, Osear and Oriel really outdid themselves when they put together my prison. They thought it out well. The books were a nice touch. I’d seen our playthings write in and read them before, but I’d never read one until they placed me in this prison with nothing better to do than read, plot my revenge and eventually watch a fiery little human.

My powers within this jail are diminished but I can still see. I have been able to watch the humans from my mind’s eye, but I’d never made the leap to interact with any of them until Aurora. Until Oona decided to put the key in her.

I am a patient God. I know this prison wouldn’t be forever. I just have to bide my time. Wait for the cracks to show and the plan to reveal itself. And here it is fully revealed and soon... Soon I will find myself flying over the horizon to greet the Gods who sought my destruction.

I will tear them limb from fucking limb.

Where does a god soul go when it’s body is dead? What of its power? I guess we will find out soon enough because Oona, Osear and Oriel are dead. As soon as my pet frees me from this place—they are mine for the taking.

To be continued…
