We need to come back to this bar more often. Make more memories now that Holden’s here.

Holden grins and stuffs his hand into his pocket. When he pulls it out, he’s holding a gold band with a single diamond on it. He gets down on one knee as my vision starts to blur. Our family and friends start to whisper, and I think I see my sister with a camera pointed in my direction.

“Hannah, I knew the day you walked into my life that you were going to be the person to change everything I thought I knew. We may have spent some years apart after that first meeting, but I think our love is bigger than us. The universe saw fit to bring us back together, perhaps when we both needed it most. I love you more with every single day that passes, and I know I want to spend the rest of my life loving you. Will you marry me?”

“Well,” I say, my voice breathless. “How do you feel about waiting nine months or so for the wedding?”

His eyes widen as he stands up. “Excuse me?”

I shrug, my smile growing larger. “Even though I know that pregnant women make beautiful brides, I don’t think that look is for me. I would rather wait until both children are here and can celebrate with us properly.”

“We’re having another kid?” He laughs and pulls me into a tight hug. “We’re getting married and we’re having another kid!”

“We’re having another kid,” I say, though I can’t quite believe it myself. “Kerri’s going to be a big sister.”

Cheers erupt around us as Holden picks me up and spins me in a circle. I laugh as I hold him tight. When he sets me back on the ground, tears start to well in my eyes. He slips the ring over my finger before cupping my face with both hands.

“I love you so damn much, Hannah,” he says. When he leans in to kiss me, the rest of the world fades away.

“I love you too.” We pull away from each other as the music turns up.

Friends and family surround us, a rush of congratulations and questions about the pregnancy coming with them. I grin as the love in the room threatens to overwhelm me.

This isn’t the way I saw the night going, but I love it. I love that Holden brought me back to the place where it all began, so we can start this new chapter of our lives together.

As I make my way around for hugs and well wishes, I know that this is just the beginning of another exciting adventure. Holden is going to be by my side through this pregnancy. Kerri is going to become an older sister. We’re going to buy a big house by the water and raise our family there.

In the last few months, we’ve made all these plans for the future and they’re finally starting to be put into action. I get to build a future with the man I love.

I can’t wait to see how the rest of our life together unfolds.
