The longer she stayed wrapped up in my arms, the more she secured her spot there. I had tried to fight what I thought I was feeling, but after kissing her, I already knew it was no use. All I could think about was how I was going to get her, as my eyelids got heavy and I drifted off to sleep.

“Get up, get up!” I felt someone shaking me, and it was Ivy.

I opened my eyes slowly and looked at the panic on her face with her hair all wild over her head.

“What’s up?” My voice croaked.

She said, “It’s 6:32” as she put her phone in my face. Blinding me with the light.

I sat up in bed and stretched. I was moving too slow for her liking.

“Judah! You have to go, let me make sure the coast is clear!” she said in a harsh whisper like the room was tapped.

I overslept. She told me that Santos got up at five a.m. every day to have breakfast. Her room was on a different wing of the house than the rooms we had been staying in.

So, if he saw me coming from that side, he’d know where I had been.

“My bad,” I cleared my throat.

She started pacing and trying to find clothes. I grabbed her and gave her a look.

“Calm down with all this damn pacing. Ain’t shit gone happen to you or me.

” I meant that. Having respect for someone and being scared of them were two different things.

Had I been scared, I wouldn’t be over here at all.

I respect him enough not to have her touching every wall in this house.

But I ain’t never been scared of nan nigga in my life.

“You don’t understand, Judah. I’ve seen and heard way too much.”

“You ain’t seen shit until you met a Jennings, you ever see a mouth bomb before?” I asked. Her face changed in confusion as she shook her head.

“Exactly. I ain’t worried, trust me,” I reassured her.

She threw on clothes and left. She came back about two minutes later and told me that the coast was clear.

I walked toward the door and slapped her butt before I walked out, and it made her blush and hit me.

Once I made my way back over to the side of the house that we had been staying in, I pushed open the door, and I saw Jax sitting on my bed.

“You a hardheaded muhfucka,” He said before I could take a step inside. I chuckled.

“Look, G.”

“Look, nothing, Judah. I told you that you gotta stop moving so reckless. You've been down there for how many nights now? Three? Four?” He questioned. Damn, nosey ass nigga had been clocking my movements.

“I ain’t moving reckless, we just cool.”

“Cool enough to have you leave your phone over here? Got Alexis texting my wife in the middle of the night, saying she can’t get in contact with you.”

“That’s not my girl.”

“That’s not the point nigga. Kennedy thought something happened to your clown ass,” He gritted.

“Aight, so?” I asked.

“You trying to fold the whole operation? You know Santos is our supplier, you piss him off, it's gone be hard to recover from that.”

I chuckled, cause if I remembered correctly, this was the same nigga that convinced me and Trouble to hold the Don’s underbosses at gunpoint.

“Nigga you almost got us kicked out of the Mafia, so save it. It ain’t that deep for me, right now. We were just chilling, and nothing happened. That’s on everything.” I said as I took my phone from him and checked my notifications.

He chuckled but didn’t say anything else.

Alexis had called me over a hundred times.

Shit like that pissed me off. She had been around for a couple of years, but she wasn’t the only girl I fucked with, and she knew that.

She wasn’t even my favorite if I’m being real.

Remy’s sister Taylor could suck the blue and yellow dye out of a green T-shirt.

“You mean to tell me you laying up with a woman and ain’t shit happened?” He questioned.

“Nothing,” I doubled down as I read my messages.

“That’s hard to believe.” He scoffed.

“The fuck does that mean? I’m a gentleman, I ain’t easy nigga.” I looked up from the phone, making him laugh.

“Chill, but if you dead ass. Then it already is that deep.” He raised his eyebrow.

I didn’t have a response for him because I almost felt like he was right.

All my interactions with females ended up sexually.

While I wanted to fuck Ivy, I didn’t only want to sleep with her.

I knew that from our first conversation.

Shit really didn’t make a difference when she told me that she didn’t want to take it further. It was crazy.

“We're good G,” I assured him.

He stood from the position on my bed and walked out the door, leaving me alone.

I shook my head and finished going through the messages that I had missed. I made a couple of business moves and then checked all the security systems and alerts for the properties.

When I was finished, I went into the bathroom, showered again, and threw on the fiftieth pair of pajamas since I had been here. This was starting to feel less like a disaster and more like retirement.

I went downstairs to find something to eat. Since I had been here, a nigga was surviving on sandwiches when Santos’ maids didn’t cook. Jax ass was just with whatever I was with because he couldn’t cook for shit. Not even eggs.

Standing at the sliding glass door, I was looking out the window at the water still pressed against it.

This was one of the times when being in an underdeveloped area worked against us.

Everything was so small, and the effort to drain the water was going slowly.

The flights in and out were still cancelled, and if it wasn't for Ivy being in the house, I would be going crazy.

She came downstairs with her computer and set it on the counter. I could hear a meeting about the weather taking place, which she responded to every few seconds.

“I’m about to make some French toast, eggs, and sausage. Do you all want some?” she asked as she went over to the fridge.

“Hell yeah,” I said.

“Preciate you,” Jax’s non-cooking ass said as he walked back over to the window.

He was reading to get home to Kennedy, Pebbles, and Bam Bam. They weren’t twins, but they were really close in age, and they were bad as hell. I don’t know what happened to the second wave of the Jennings crew, but my little niece Cupcake was the only one who could be trusted.

Ivy made breakfast while I sat at the table and read over the security manifests. Looking over dates and times of everyone coming and going from the headquarters and the warehouse.

“Tell Zo to look into Hampton; he’s been in the back of the warehouse three times in the last four days,” I said as I continued to scan the log, and Jax picked up the phone to call Zo.

“Here you go,” Ivy said, placing the plate in front of me, and everything looked good. She had the shit plated like it was from a restaurant. Then she walked over and handed Jax a plate too before picking up her laptop and disappearing on the other side of the estate.

“You really want me to believe it’s nothing there?” He doubled down.

“I said ain’t nothing happen.”

He shook his head and picked up a piece of the sausage and bit into it.

“I mean, if we gotta die at least the food ain’t nasty,” He laughed as he cut through the French toast.

I chuckled at him and looked down at my phone just as Ivy texted me.

Ivy: I think we should take a break from seeing each other tonight. There is an attraction, and that’s not what I wanted.

Me: Aight, I’ll see you later. I miss them lips already.

I laughed as I sent the text and put my phone down. Jax looked over at me and shook his head.

“You got a lot of shit going on,” he said with a mouth full of food.

Ivy responded to my message, but I didn’t even want to hear what she had to say. I wanted her, and I wasn’t concerned with the rules at the moment. Soon enough, she wouldn’t be either.
