Story: Quake (Philia Players #3)
I ’m still beaming from the news.
We’re having another baby.
My arm is wrapped around her hips, my face still lined up with Lark’s stomach as I litter her abdomen with kisses, paying special attention to the skin above her insulin pump.
Her fingers tangle in my hair, and she releases a contented sigh. “What will you do when we’re old and gray and my legs stop working?” she muses.
I peer up to meet her gaze, a small smile playing on my lips. “I’ll wheel you around, obviously.”
She rolls her eyes gently. “And what about if you can’t walk either?”
“Well, then I’ll hire somebody to push us both at the same time, side by side, so we never have to part,” I tell her, knowing there’s absolutely nothing that could stop me from fulfilling that promise to her. Not even divine intervention.
“You seem so sure of yourself,” she says, smiling down at me.
I press a final kiss to her belly, sliding farther up the bed to capture her lips with mine. She melts easily into me, sprawling on top of my body.
When we part, my lips graze the shell of her ear. “I’ve never been more sure of anything in my life. You’re my end, and my beginning, and everything in between. We’re made for each other,” I whisper, pressing a kiss to that sensitive spot just below her ear. Her body shudders against me.
“I love you, mon ciel étoilé. ”
“And I love you, ma petite rouge. ”
The end.
