“Okay guys, I’m gonna take off.” I said, digging my keys out of my pocket.
We’d won our third game out of seven in the second round of the playoffs tonight and we’d all come to Illusions to celebrate.
“Are you able to drive the big guy home?” Knox questioned, glancing over to the corner where Lorelai was talking with Colton, trying to convince him not to drive.
I glanced at my watch. “I told Scarlett I’d be home an hour ago, I’m already going to be in shit.” I chuckled.
Lorelai came over to us, placing her hand on Knox’s shoulder. “I’m going to take him home.”
“What?”
“He said he’d go if I took him. So, take Dylan and Aurora home in your car, I’ll take mine and drop him off, then I’ll meet you at home.”
I could tell from the look on Knox’s face that he really didn’t like that plan. “I’ll go with you. Dylan and Aurora can just take my car.”
“What about tomorrow? You have to pick up your mom from the airport, and I have to be at work early.”
“Easy, Aurora can pick you up.”
“She doesn’t work in the morning, and it will be too early for you to drop me off at work. It’s fine. I’ll be fine, he’s tired and drunk and just wants his bed.” She said, leaning in and kissing Knox.
Knox looked at me as Lorelai walked over and took ahold of Colton’s arm and leading him out of the room, waving goodnight.
“Alright, well, now that that is all figured out, I’m outta here.”
We lay in bed, wrapped in one another’s arms, listening to the steady tap of rain against the windows. I pressed a kiss to Scarlett’s bare shoulder hearing my phone vibrate against the nightstand for the fourth time.
“Levi, aren’t you going to get your phone?” she murmured, placing her hand on mine.
“No, whatever it is can wait.” I answered, running my hand down between her legs, as my phone went off again.
She let out a small giggle, rolling to her back and spreading her legs for me. “Is this all you ever think about?” She asked, closing her eyes, biting her bottom lip.
“Lately, yes.” I whispered, pressing my lips against hers.
I reached over to the nightstand, opened the drawer and pulled out a condom as she reached down and took hold of my cock in her hand, gently stroking me.
“I’m starting to wonder if that is all you think about as well.” I whispered, ripping the wrapper open and sliding it over myself.
I’d just gotten between her legs when my phone let out a shrill ring, causing us both to jump.
“For the love of…. this better be important.” I barked a little too loud, reaching over grabbing my phone.
I stared down at my screen seeing Dylan’s name there. I let out a sigh, rolling off Scarlett in time to hear Mia start calling for me. I looked over at Scarlett with an annoyed look.
“I’ll get her. You get that.” Scarlett said, irritation lining her voice as she slipped from the bed throwing my robe on before making her way to Mia’s room.
I let out a sigh as I answered the phone. “This better be important. I was just about to get some.”
“Levi, are you able to come down here?” He questioned, completely ignoring what I’d said.
I frowned; I could hear it in his voice that something was wrong. “Everything alright?” I questioned.
“Yeah, just, can you get down here?” He repeated.
It was then I heard Knox mutter something in the background and Lorelai start to cry.
“Where are you guys?” I asked.
“Colton’s… yes, I’m talking to him now. Just give me a minute. Levi, can you get down here?”
I quickly removed the condom off I’d just put on, then slid into my boxers and jeans. Something was wrong and whatever it was wasn’t good. “I’ll be there in twenty.”
“See you then.”
I got up and threw a shirt on over my head, just as Scarlett appeared carrying Mia in her arms.
“Going somewhere?” She questioned, looking at me with concern.
“Yeah, that was Dylan. Something’s wrong, they need me to head over to Colton’s.” I said, grabbing my keys and wallet off the dresser.
“Will you be gone long?”
“Hopefully not, I’ll message you once I find out what is going on.” I said, pressing a kiss to her lips, then kissing Mia on the cheek.
“Okay, we’ll be waiting.” Scarlett said, laying Mia down on the bed then quickly slipping into the t-shirt and shorts she normally slept in before crawling into bed with Mia.
I pulled up outside of Colton’s house just as two police cars pulled away. The guys all stood in a group while Lorelai sat off to the side. I cut the engine and climbed out of the car and made my way over to where they all stood, immediately noticing someone was missing.
“What the hell is going on?” I questioned, walking over to them.
“It’s bad.” Clay answered.
Dylan was off to the side, on the phone, Knox beside him, his arm around Lorelai as she rested her head against his chest. I looked at them then at Clay, Lucas, realizing Colton who was missing.
“Where’s the big guy?” I questioned.
It was then that Dylan and Knox came over and joined us. “Bout time you got here.” Dylan said, shoving his phone in his back pocket.
“Yeah, well, things were happening. Now would someone tell me what the hell is going on.”
“Colton’s been arrested.”
I looked at each one of the guys, shock surely written all over my face.
“Before you ask, we’ve already made all the calls that need to be made. It’s not looking good.” Dylan said, crossing his arms in front of him.
Colton had a reputation, but things had calmed since he’d come to the Dominators. He’d stayed out of trouble and out of the papers, until tonight.
“Pamela was calling Thompkins, who will surely be letting Larson know.”
“Suspension?” Knox questioned.
“Probably,” Dylan said, looking at me. “Has he mentioned anything to you about anything?”
I shook my head, “Not a word.”
My cell phone let out a shrill ring and I pulled it from my back pocket to see Scarlett’s name on the screen. No doubt she was worried. I stepped away, answering it.
“Everything okay?” she asked.
“It’s not good babe. Colton has been arrested; we’re going to be a bit. Is everything okay?”
“Yeah, was just worried. Guess I’ll see you in the morning.”
“I’ll be home as soon as I can be.”
I shoved my phone back into my pocket and made my way over to the guys just as Dylan was getting off his phone again.
“Thompkins and Larson want us all at the arena in twenty.”
“Can you take me home first.” Lorelai asked, still resting her head on Knox’s chest.
“They want you there as well.” Dylan said, looking at Knox. “She was here when it all went down.”
After a gruelling two-hour meeting with Larson and Thompkins, I finally walked through the door of our condo exhausted.
After they’d spoken to Lorelai in private, they’d let us know that Colton was on suspension moving forward, and that they were working on getting a lawyer over to the police department to get him out of there.
They’d forbid us to speak with the media until further notice.
I kicked my shoes off and made my way down the hall to see Scarlett and Mia sleeping soundly in the centre of the bed. The small bedside lamp was on, casting a small glow over them.
As I stood there, watching them sleep, suddenly I felt bad for Colton. He really was alone, and no matter how much we included him, not having a significant other in his life obviously affected him. It affected all of us, prior to the girls coming into our lives.
Scarlett stirred, opening her eyes a little, then took notice of me standing in the door to our bedroom. She propped herself up on her elbow, careful not to disturb Mia and looked at me.
“Is everything okay?” She asked quietly.
While I wanted to tell her everything that I knew from tonight, I knew now wasn’t the time. I just wanted to crawl into bed and hold her in my arms.
“Eveything is good.” I whispered, walking over and gently sitting on the edge of the bed, once again removing my clothes.
I slipped under the covers, reached up and shut the light off, rolling onto my side and moving up against Scarlett.
Tonight, if anything had made me realize just how lucky I was to have them both and as I closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep I hoped the Colton would eventually find someone like Scarlett, and that he’d get things in order once and for all.
