Page 2 of Pills and Potions: Snoh
LYRIC
T he day passed by me as I sat in the house doing absolutely nothing.
I had lost my job and looking at these four walls seemed to be the only thing entertaining.
I hated seeing my sister leave every morning being productive.
That used to be me at one point and now it was like pulling teeth just to get someone to call me back for an interview.
Magnolia Valley had plenty of jobs but apparently none were hiring at the moment.
Sitting up watching Love I was envious of their relationship.
She didn’t see him as a man the way I did.
I noticed everything about him when I saw him.
He stuck out that much to me. All I needed was an opportunity to be seen.
Pushing my thoughts of Snoh to the back of my mind, I began to cook dinner.
London wasn’t a fan of red meat or pork, so we always went with something pescatarian.
I did the fine dining when she wasn’t around.
Marry Me Salmon over rice with squash and zucchini on the side. I could taste that shit already.
I grooved to the music as I moved around, doing my thing. It didn’t take me long to get dinner together. I taught London how to cook so I’m pretty much in my comfort zone. I needed baby sis’ to be able to feed her and her lover, whomever that was at the time.
Plating the food, I heard the front door open. Checking the time, I saw that it was 6:05 p.m. Snoh must’ve had a pretty easy day if she was home right at six.
“Big sis’ you got it smelling damn good up in here.” I was only two minutes older, and she never let me forget it.
“Thanks boo. I got something you’ll enjoy for sure. How was your day?”
She came around the corner stripping off this bomb ass mauve dress that hugged the hell out of her curves.
Our mama wasn’t shit but she blessed us with a hell of a body.
She snatched the clip from her hair, and it fell effortlessly across her shoulders.
We were some bad bitches. Magnolia Valley had to give us that.
“My day was the same as it always is. Snoh flirts, buys me things, and always looks at me like he could eat me from sunup to sundown. I find it funny. Imagine hitting on a bitch and the only thing she thinks about is fuckin’ her girlfriend.
If that nigga only knew he was shooting blanks.
What I can say is that nigga did something out of the usual. He denied my fuckin’ vacation time.”
I knew my sister. She wasn’t thinking about Snoh the way he was her.
Since the age of fifteen, London had been into girls and not just any girls, the feminine kind.
The ones that’s so bad they make the niggas go crazy but don’t have an ounce of interest for them.
My sister couldn’t care less about what a man thought about her.
“Did you give him a rundown again?” I asked, always curious about the things she said and did with him.
“Girl, name a day I don’t. I only do it because I know the nigga going to match me. He so obsessed with me it ain’t even funny, sis’. The man wants me bad and all I want is to enjoy my baecation with Alani this week.”
Her leaving would be the perfect door for me to step through and get some time in with Snoh. London took one vacation a year and when she did, she went completely ghost. She was unreachable until the day she flew back in town. I could use that to my advantage.
“You said he denied your vacation time, right? Why would he do that all of a sudden? I thought he knew about you and Alani.”
“That nigga don’t know shit about my personal life.
I’m being paid to know his business, not the other way around.
I’m still going, though. I don’t care what that nigga talking about.
The most he can do is fire me, and since we both know how bad he wants to sniff my draws, that shit won’t be happening no time soon.
When I get back, I’m going to show up like nothing’s wrong. ”
“Well, who’s going to take your place while you’re gone?” I questioned.
“One of my coworkers will step up. I don’t give a fuck who does it, all I know is, Sunday morning at seven I’ll be boarding a plane to Tulum. They can work all that other shit out come Monday.”
“Why don’t I take your place? I literally have all the time in the world and instead of sitting around doing nothing, I can fill your shoes. All you got to do is coach me over the weekend, and I’ll have it by Monday.”
She looked at me like I was crazy, but I was dead ass serious.
With her gone, I could fantasize about the positions me and that man could be in, in peace.
I could get intoxicated by his cologne freely and steal as many glances as I wanted without anyone thinking I was a creep.
We could finally share the same space, and no one would assume a thing. It was perfect in my eyes.
“What? Girl, no. That man would be able to spot the difference quick,” she said laughing and waving it off.
“No, he wouldn’t. We are identical twins and there’s nothing on you that’s not on me besides Alani’s name. It’s the perfect plan and you’ll still get a free check.”
“I’m salary, Lyric. The check don’t change no matter how many days I take off.”
“Well, let me do it out of boredom, then.” I never told a soul how I felt about Snoh, not even London. I didn’t want or need the judgment. He was my little secret.
“Let me eat and think about it.”
“Oh, come on, London. I’m tired of sitting in this damn house every day. Just tell me what to do and I’ll do it. I’m a fast learner, you know that. You say he’ll spot the difference, but I say he won’t even notice. Just let me do this, please,” I begged.
“Fine. I’ll write down everything you need to know tonight and have it ready for you in the morning. I’ll make everything pretty detailed so you shouldn’t need me. I don’t mind you wearing my shit, Lyric, but please don’t stain it. You eat and drink so messy.”
“Fuck you, bitch. Before you got all them labels, you were the same way. But I got you. I’ll take care of your shit,” I said grinning from ear to ear.
“Why you making me feel like I done fucked up?” she asked squinting and dipping her brows. She gave me that look like she needed to change her mind ASAP.
“I don’t know. Must be your nerves. Anyway, come eat with me so I can run out and do some last minute things.”
“Like?” she asked with curiosity in her eyes.
“Fix myself up. I need to do something to my nails, hair, and feet over the weekend so I can look professional Monday morning. Also grab some perfume or oils. I just need to shop a bit sis’.”
“ Ooouuu ! I want to go. Snoh gave me a few zeros today. It’ll be my treat.”
“You sure?” I asked with a raised brow. Normally, her extra money was spent on Alani. This was new.
“Yeah. You’re my sister, bitch. I can spend bread on you the same way I do my girl. It ain’t shit to a boss,” she said making the money gesture with her fingers. I couldn’t help but laugh. She had a silly side to her many didn’t see.
We ate giving small talk. The entire time, I fought tooth and nail to contain my excitement.
London thought nothing of it because she saw nothing in Snoh, but he was a man to me.
The perfect one to be exact. He invaded my thoughts so damn much I had wet dreams about this man. He was more than a crush.
Many times, I wanted to bring London lunch just to see him, but she kept me away from that place at all times.
She didn’t want her coworkers knowing she was a twin for whatever reason.
I respected her wishes and kept my distance.
However, now I could literally walk in her shoes and engage with Snoh whenever I pleased.
Him spotting the differences between us was slim to none.
Flirting back and making him stand on whatever he said to me would be the only difference.
I refused to turn down anything he threw my way.
If it was a simple touch, I was going to make him take it further.
If it was a simple brush against me, I was going to make him stand up in this shit moments later.
I wasn’t turning down that man in any way.
London had a position that should’ve been mine from the jump and now I could play it comfortably.
