Page 6 of Origins of Eternity
“How would you two like to turn someone tonight?” Cassia asked, thinking about how to make her night a little more interesting. “Not just end their miserable little lives.”
“You’ll let us turn someone?” Gigi asked.
“You’ve been asking to do it, and I think you’re ready. Don’t you?”
Miranda moved to Gigi and kissed her hard, and Cassia smirked at how much they both clearly wanted this. She even remembered her first turn. Of course, thinking back to that and remaining focused on it would only serve to remind her of her own origins, and that was not something she wanted to think about right now.
“I’ll take that as a yes,” she said, refocusing her mind on the present and the very near future. “Let’s have the car come around and get out of here.”
An hour later, Cassia watched Gigi and Miranda on the dance floor of a club. They were all over each other, and she loved seeing them like this, but it only made her miss the dayswhen she and Iro couldn’t keep their hands off each other. Of course, in those days, they hadn’t been able to be obvious about their love, and there also hadn’t been clubs where they could dance like this, but they had had their homes and their wealth and the staff that Cassia had trusted with their secret.
Miranda picked someone first and took her to the bathroom, where, Cassia assumed, they might have a quickie in a stall, and Miranda would ask the woman to go home with her. Gigi picked a woman who’d been sitting at the bar and asked her to dance. Cassia watched them move together on the dance floor, and the woman wanted Gigi’s hands everywhere. Cassia licked her lips, watching Gigi cup and massage the woman’s breasts from behind while she stared directly at Cassia.
Being a vampire meant having an insatiable appetite and not just for human blood. Their bodies healed quickly, so they never got sore, and Cassia hadn’t ever been fully sated, even when she and Iro had shared days in bed and never stopped touching each other. She neverwantedto be fully sated, either. Sex was meant to be enjoyed, and she planned to do just that every day for the rest of her immortal life if she could.
Just as Cassia found herself getting turned on and thinking about finding her own dance partner for the rest of the night, though, Gigi nodded to Cassia to indicate that she was taking the woman outside. Cassia finished her brandy, stood, and followed.
“Gigi, slow,” she said when she saw Gigi already pressing the woman to the wall of the alley and sucking hard on her neck. “Slow, baby. You need to take some of that, you know?”
Gigi stopped and looked at Cassia, blood dripping from her lips.
“Now, you know what to do,” Cassia said.
Gigi bit down into her own wrist.
“It’s not as elegant as I’d like, but drip your blood into her mouth.”
Gigi opened the woman’s mouth, and the dazed woman could do nothing to stop her. Vampire blood dripped inside before Gigi’s wrist healed.
“Now, add some of her own.”
Gigi dipped a finger into the ample blood pouring out of the woman’s neck and slid the finger around the woman’s bottom lip. Then, she pressed that lip in a little bit.
“Now, finish your meal,” Cassia ordered.
Gigi drank and drank until the woman could no longer stand.
“Feel for her heartbeat until it stops to make sure that she’s dead,” Cassia instructed. “We don’t want her waking up on the way home, do we?”
Gigi grabbed the woman’s wrist, feeling for a pulse, and the woman collapsed in her arms shortly after.
“She’s dead.”
“Good, sweetheart. We can get her in the back of the car now if you want to keep her. She’ll wake in a few hours.”
“I can keep her?”
“If you’d like. When they wake, they have trouble adjusting. You remember, of course. You can help her with that, or you can leave her here to deal with it on her own. Your choice entirely.”
“I want to keep her,” Gigi answered.
“Very well. Get her in the car. I’ll check on Miranda.”
Cassia didn’t wait because she knew Gigi would follow her instructions, so she turned on her heels and headed back inside. There, in the cramped bathroom, she found Miranda and her human toy making out against the sink while women tried to move around them to get into one of the three stalls.
“Well, well,” Cassia said.
Miranda pulled back and smiled over at her.
