She bites her lip. She won’t be able to get in.
He tugs her with him when he gets out. “You’re gonna love them.”
Despite the line curving around the building, Finn pulls her along as he and Beck walk to the front where two burly bouncers watch the door.
Beck tosses one of the guys his keys.
The guy catches them and throws them right back. “I’m not a valet.”
Beck laughs. “Find me if you need me to move it.”
“Nah, I’ll just call a tow truck.”
Shiloh’s eyes widen, and Finn squeezes her hand. “He’s kidding. Aldo’s one of our biggest fans. Beck and him kick the shit like this all the time.”
Her mouth opens on a silent oh as Finn leads her inside.
“Whoa, there.” Aldo grasps her shoulder. “ID please.”
“She’s cool, man.” Aldo’s thick eyebrow arches, and Finn sighs. “She’s with us.”
“Still, ID.” Aldo holds out his hand.
Finn nudges her backpack. “Come on, show him. Band’s about to go on.” He sounds impatient.
The only ID Shiloh has on her is her high school ID. She lifts her chin. “I’m eighteen.”
Noticing they didn’t follow him inside, Beck returns. “What’s the holdup?”
“Shy got carded.”
“Get on with it and let’s go,” says Beck.
Aldo crosses his arms over a heavily muscled chest. His bicep bulges when he points a finger at the line. “They look eighteen. You, sweetheart, do not. No ID, no admittance.”
Beck takes a good look at her for the first time. “How old did you say you are?”
“Eighteen.” But even to her, her voice sounds unconvincing.
“I call bullshit.”
Finn punches Beck’s shoulder. “Shut up.” He faces Shiloh. “Give him your ID, and let’s go.”
“I don’t have it.”
“What?”
“I don’t have it. I lost it.”
“Bullshit.” Beck coughs into his fist.
Finn tilts his head, studying her. Doubt shadows his expression. “Youareeighteen, right?”
All three—Aldo, Beck, and Finn—tower over her. They stare at her, their glares intimidating, and she loses her nerve. She shakes her head.
“How old are you?” Finn asks.
“Fifteen,” she whispers, and Finn has to ask her to repeat her age because he couldn’t hear her over the noise. The band has started to play. “Fifteen,” she yells.
