MY GAMMA
Wren
I step lightly down the staircase, the familiar creak of the wood beneath my feet a comforting sound in the otherwise quiet early morning.
The scent of coffee and something delicious wafts through the air, pulling me toward the kitchen like a moth to a flame.
I can hear their laughter before I even reach the door, the warm, inviting sound wrapping around me as I pause just outside, a smile creeping onto my lips.
Inside the Pack House kitchen, it feels like a scene pulled straight from a dream.
Wyatt leans against the counter, his laughter booming as he recounts some ridiculous story from a training session gone awry.
Octavia rolls her eyes, a playful smirk dancing on her lips.
Poppy is leaning against the opposite counter, her light giggles mixing with the deeper chuckles of Dalton.
But my heart skips a beat as my gaze finds Harrison.
He’s leaning casually against the kitchen island, his dark hair catching the morning light, revealing a hint of mischief in his ocean-blue eyes.
The mate bond pulls me toward him like gravity, and I can feel the warmth radiating from his presence.
My heart quickens, and I swallow back the flutter of excitement that rises within me.
“Little Bird!” Harrison calls out, a grin splitting his face wide.
He opens his arms wide, inviting me into his embrace.
Without a second thought, I leap into his arms, and he catches me effortlessly, spinning me around as laughter erupts from the others.
I can feel the warmth of his body enveloping me, the world around us fading away.
In this moment, I feel safe, cherished, and utterly complete.
“Get a room, you two!” Dalton teases, and the others laugh, but I only have eyes for Harrison. He sets me down gently, his hands still resting on my waist as we share a moment, lost in each other’s gaze.
“Hey, did you hear about the spell Poppy’s been working on?” Octavia interjects, her voice light but filled with excitement.
I tear my gaze away from Harrison, focusing on Poppy as she nods enthusiastically. “It’s a tracking spell! We can use it to find the dark witch’s magic signature. It could lead us right to her!”
My heart races at the mention of the dark witch.
Ever since she had attacked our pack, a shadow had loomed over us.
The threat she posed was real, and the need to protect our home and loved ones was paramount.
But as I glance back at Harrison, I feel a renewed sense of strength.
With him by my side, I know we can face anything.
“Really?” I ask, trying to focus on Poppy’s words. “How does it work?”
Poppy’s eyes spark with enthusiasm as she explains the intricacies of the spell, but my mind drifts again, drawn back to Harrison.
The way he leans against the counter, his strong arms folded, the playful glint in his eyes — it captivates me.
I can’t help but feel a deep, unshakeable bond with him, one that transcends words.
“Wren?” Harrison’s voice cuts through my reverie, pulling me back. “You okay?”
“Yeah, just… thinking,” I reply, my cheeks warming under his gaze.
“About?”
I consider how to answer. “About how lucky I am,” I finally say, and his expression softens.
“Me too,” he replies, his voice low and sincere. “We’re in this together.”
The warmth in my chest expands, and I nod, letting the affirmation wash over me. I’ve never felt a love like this before, and it fills me with hope for our future.
As the conversation shifts back to the spell, I listen intently, but a small part of me is still lost in the way Harrison’s fingers brush against mine, sending a spark through my body.
I can’t wait to see where our journey leads us, to face the challenges ahead, but most importantly, to do it together.
“Okay, let’s get started on this spell,” Poppy declares, clapping her hands together as she gathers supplies from the pantry. The buzz of excitement fills the kitchen, and I feel the camaraderie of our little family strengthen around me.
“Wren, you’re going to want to focus your fire element on the spell,” Octavia advises, her tone serious yet encouraging. “Your connection to magic is going to be crucial for this.”
I nod, my heart racing at the thought. I’ve always felt a unique connection to fire, a flickering flame that dances just beneath the surface, waiting to be unleashed.
“Right, let’s do this,” I say, determination coursing through me.
As we gather around the kitchen table, a sense of purpose fills the air. The laughter and chatter from moments ago are replaced with focus and intent as we begin to weave magic together. The energy pulses around us, a tangible force that binds us as a pack, as friends, as family.
With every word spoken and every gesture made, I can feel the bond between us growing stronger, much like the flames I wield. And amidst the chaos of the outside world, in this cozy kitchen surrounded by those I love, I know that together, we can overcome anything.
The dark witch may have cast her shadow over our lives, but we are not alone in this fight. We have each other, and that is more powerful than any dark magic she wields.
As I glance at Harrison, our eyes meet, and I see the same strength reflected back at me.
He is my mate, my partner, and I know without a doubt that our love will light the way forward.
True peace settles in my heart knowing that one night with my Gamma changed everything and fate's golden string brought us together.
The spell is our first step, but it won’t be the last.
