SCOUTING FOR MY SISTER
Wren
The following morning dawns bright and clear, the sun filtering through my window and casting warm rays across my face.
I stretch, feeling the energy of the day pulse within me.
I feel the bed is empty and sheets are cold, so I know my mate has been gone for a bit already this morning.
Today, we’ll continue our training, but I also know we need to strategize and gather information about Lenore’s plans.
After getting dressed, I head downstairs to find the pack gathered for breakfast. The smell of freshly brewed coffee and warm pastries fills the air, and I can’t help but smile at the sight of my friends chatting and laughing together.
Harrison spots me from across the room and waves me over. “Good morning, beautiful!” he calls, his voice filled with warmth.
“Good morning!” I reply, feeling a rush of happiness as I make my way to his side. He pulls out a chair for me, and I sit down, the warmth of his presence comforting.
“Did you sleep well? You seemed to toss and turn a lot.” he asks, his brow furrowing with concern.
“I did, thanks to Poppy’s message,” I reply, taking a sip of coffee. “How about you, baby?”
“Not bad. I kept thinking about what we’ll face today,” he says, his tone turning serious. “We need to be cautious and strategic.”
I nod, feeling the weight of his words. “I agree. We should gather the pack again after breakfast and discuss our next steps. We need to stay one step ahead of Lenore.”
The pack members finish their meals, and Wyatt stands up, drawing everyone’s attention. “Alright, everyone! After breakfast, we’ll have a brief meeting to discuss our strategy moving forward. We need to be prepared for anything.”
As the pack members finish their meals, I can feel the anticipation building in the air. We’re all aware of the challenges ahead, but there’s also a sense of determination and unity that fills the room.
Once breakfast concludes, we gather in the large meeting room, the atmosphere charged with energy.
Wyatt stands at the front, flanked by Harrison and me.
“Thank you all for being here. We face a formidable enemy in Lenore along with others who are still unknown, and it’s crucial that we work together to protect our pack and coven. ”
I take a deep breath, stepping forward to address everyone. “We’ve made significant progress in our training, but we need to gather more information about Lenore’s plans. We can’t just react; we need to anticipate her moves.”
Harrison nods in agreement. “We should send out scouts to gather intel. If Lenore is operating nearby, we need to know who she’s working with and what her next move might be.”
A murmur of agreement sweeps through the room. “I’ll lead a scouting party,” Dalton volunteers, his eyes gleaming with determination. “I know these woods well, and I’ll make sure we stay undetected.”
“Good idea,” Wyatt replies, his voice steady. “We’ll need to be cautious and stealthy. Make sure you stay within communication range. Oh, and maybe take Poppy with you for magical backup. If you notice anything suspicious, report back immediately.”
As Dalton and a few others begin to make plans for the scouting mission, I feel a sense of urgency building within me. “We also need to be prepared for any magical threats Lenore may send our way,” I add. “My coven can work on reinforcing the wards, but we need to be vigilant.”
Poppy steps forward, her expression serious. “We can create additional barriers to protect the borders and packhouse. We’ll also need to practice our magical defenses, so we’re ready for anything.”
The pack members nod, their expressions resolute. “We’ll work together,” one of them calls out. “We won’t let Lenore or anyone tear us apart.”
“You’re my family now too,” I reply, feeling the warmth of solidarity enveloping us. “And we’ll fight for each other. Together, we’re stronger than any darkness.”
As the meeting concludes, a sense of purpose fills the room. We break into smaller groups, each one focused on their specific tasks. I join Poppy and a few other coven members as we head outside, ready to reinforce our magical barriers.
“Let’s get to work,” Poppy says, her eyes shining with determination. “We have a lot to do, and we need to be ready for whatever comes next. I’ll plan to go with the Beta but send for me if you need. I’m just a messenger Sparrow away.”
As we begin to work, weaving our magic together, I can feel the threads of strength and unity binding us as one. The sun shines brightly overhead, illuminating our efforts as we prepare to face the challenges ahead.
Hours pass as we work tirelessly, our collective magic weaving together to form a protective barrier around the pack. I can feel the energy surging through us, a vibrant pulse that resonates with the land itself. The wards shimmer and glow, a testament to our hard work and determination.
I step back to admire our handiwork. The barriers stand strong, a shimmering wall of energy that envelops the packhouse and borders.
“Great job, everyone!” I call out, feeling a rush of pride. “We’ve done amazing work today. These wards will help keep us safe, but we still need to remain vigilant.”
Mom nods, her eyes filled with excitement. “We should practice offensive and defensive spells next. If your sister sends her minions our way, we need to be ready to counter them.”
I agree, my heart racing at the thought of what’s to come. “Let’s gather everyone for one final training session before we call it a day.”
As we assemble the pack and coven members, I can see the determination etched on their faces. They’re ready to fight, ready to protect what we hold dear.
“Tonight, we’ll practice our spells and combat techniques,” I announce, my voice steady. “We’ll focus on working together, combining our strengths to create a formidable defense.”
The pack members cheer, their energy palpable as we move into our training session. I can feel the adrenaline pumping through my veins, igniting a fire within me that propels me forward.
The night unfolds, we train hard, each spell and maneuver bringing us closer together. The laughter and camaraderie fill the air, and I can’t help but feel a sense of hope blossoming within me.
“Let’s take a break!” I finally call out, raising my hands to signal a pause. We gather in a circle, catching our breath and sharing stories of our victories and challenges.
Harrison moves closer to me, his expression filled with warmth. “You’ve done an incredible job today, Little Bird. I’m proud of you.”
“Thank you, baby,” I reply, feeling a blush creep to my cheeks. “I couldn’t have done it without the support of everyone here.”
As the evening wears on, I take a moment to step outside, the cool night air brushing against my skin. The stars twinkle overhead, casting a serene glow over the pack territory. I close my eyes, allowing the magic of the night to envelop me.
But just as I begin to relax, I sense a shift in the atmosphere. The air grows heavy, charged with an energy that sends shivers down my spine. My instincts kick in, and I quickly turn to head back inside, a sense of urgency flooding my senses.
“Everyone!” I call out, my voice sharp with concern. “We need to be on high alert. I can feel something coming.”
The pack members exchange worried glances, and I can see the determination in their eyes. “We’ve prepared for this,” Harrison reassures me, stepping forward to stand at my side. “Whatever it is, we’ll face it together.”
Just then, a distant howl echoes through the night, a chilling sound that reverberates in my bones. My heart races, and I can see the tension mounting among the pack. Then, the defense alarm blares.
“Get ready Waterton!” Wyatt commands, his voice steady as he steps forward. “We don’t know what’s out there, but we’ll stand together as a united front.”
As the pack members gather, I can feel the energy shifting again. The darkness is closing in, and I know that Lenore’s forces are drawing near. But we are prepared. Together, we are a force to be reckoned with.
“Wren,” Harrison murmurs, his voice low as he leans closer to me. “Stay by my side. Whatever happens, I won’t let anything happen to you.”
I nod, my heart racing as I meet his gaze. “I’m not going anywhere. We’ll face this together.”
With that, we stand shoulder to shoulder, ready to confront whatever hell my sister is bringing with her. The night is thick with tension, but I can feel the fire of determination igniting within us.
