Page 25 of My Three Hometown Hard Hats
I laugh, looking from him to his brother. Conrad gives me a warm smile and a wink before driving down the street.
What the hell is happening? How am I already feeling like this? For two guys? Three, actually.
Austin, Conrad, and Brooks all have a power over me I don’t understand, but I know the way I feel when I’m around them isn’t something I want to go away anytime soon.
CHAPTER ELEVEN
Brooks
My eyes stay lockedon the side mirror until I can no longer see Hadley standing at the very edge of the garage.
She’s so fucking adorable—and adorably fuckable.
I turn to look at my brother, who is lost in his thoughts. “Are you upset?” I ask.
“About what?”
“That I kissed her last week?”
He shrugs but doesn’t say anything.
“I didn’t plan on kissing her, but then she sprayed me with the hose. Next thing I knew, she was pressed up against the house, and her lips were right there. I don’t know. It just happened,” I explain.
“I get it. That’s kind of what happened on the plane, minus the hose.”
I snort, keeping my comment about a hose being involved if he fucked her to myself.
He continues, “It isn’t like we haven’t done this before.”
It’s true. Conrad and I have shared a few women between us before. Nothing ever got very serious, but it isn’t completely new to us.
“Do you think she’s into it?” I ask.
He tilts his head to the side. “I think she was a little shocked, but she seemed just as into it as she was when it was just her and I.”
A wave of jealousy rolls through me. It’s irrational, but I can’t help it. I push the feeling away because it won’t do me any good right now.
If it’s meant to be, I’ll get to experience that with her, too.
“I don’t think the issue is whether she’s okay trying things out with you and I. It’s going to be that she has feelings for someone else, too,” he says.
“Austin,” I say quietly, glancing out the window.
If anyone deserves to find his person, it’s Austin. He’s got fucked over by his ex, even though he got the coolest kid imaginable out of it.
“He doesn’t let anyone in with him or Evelyn,” Conrad says, heading out of town toward our house. “I want him to be happy, but I don’t know how that’s going to happen with the brick walls he has built.”
“If she likes all three of us, then why can’t we just give that a shot?”
“All four of us? Austin doesn’t even want to have a relationship with a woman, let alone one where she’s with two other men.”
“Then I guess we need to prove to him that it could work with all of us,” I say, feeling a little hopeful.
He pulls to a stop in front of the house. “All of this is great in theory, but we can’t do anything if it isn’t what she wants.”
“I know. I know,” I say, sliding from the truck.
I feel like I know Hadley, though, and I’m pretty sure this is what she wants. Even if she hasn’t fully let herself realize it yet.
