Javi took a deep breath, the anguish in his voice shifting to a steely resolve. “What do you have on the profile? Any leads?”

“We checked missing person’s reports across several states, especially those who fit the profile. Latina brunettes aged eighteen to twenty-one. So far, a total of fifteen women who fit were found to have been killed in New York, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, and Chicago.”

“Do you think he’ll show up here?” Javi asked.

“I can’t say for sure, but you should definitely consider adding protection for your sister.”

He let out a bitter laugh. “Yeah, along with her friends and my sister-in-law. They all fit the fucking profile.”

“I’ll coordinate with my team there. We’ll analyze the evidence and see if we can pinpoint where the killer might strike next,” I added.

“Okay,” Javi replied, his voice firm. “Enzo... thanks for reaching out.”

“Always, brother. We’re in this together. I’ll keep you updated on any developments here.”

I hung up, my gaze returned to the files on my desk. The faces of the lost girls stared back at me, eyes wide and pleading. I felt the familiar sting of anger rise within me.

We would find the killer.

We had to.

Time was running out.

The End. For now.
