“To confirm, Ms. Shayson: You’re willing to sign away all rights to your half of the company in exchange for a hundred thousand dollars? Which you will then just…give away?”

“She doesn’t need it,” I rumbled, beyond proud of her. “And we don’t want it.”

“Hell,” spat Montgomery. “I spend more than that on my suits. You want a check?”

This man had the money available? Even better. Harper’s smile turned from predatory to pleased .

“I think that we can definitely come to an arrangement today.”

The next hour was exhausting. And confusing.

I’ll admit that I tuned out quite a lot of the debate, which was mainly between the two lawyers, and Montgomery chiming in occasionally.

What was fascinating to me was that he hadn’t given Sami another look after she agreed to sell at such a ridiculously low price.

If that didn’t tell us everything we needed to know, nothing would.

He might’ve wanted Sami, but not for Sami . He wanted her because she was beautiful and accomplished and would look good on his arm. He wanted her because of her connections, and her father’s half of the company.

He didn’t want her . He didn’t know her.

But I did.

As the negotiations droned on, I gave up resisting the urge to touch her.

I slid her chair closer to mine and put my arm around her shoulders.

She tipped her head sideways, and I loved the way I could feel her breath on my throat whenever she exhaled.

The chaos swirled around us, but together, we were grounded.

At long last, Harper nodded. “I think that’s it. I’ll write up this sale contract and get it to you by tomorrow morning.”

The other lawyer was already packing up his papers. “Then we can sign it, write your client a check, and be on the first flight out of here. ”

Time to seal the rest of the deal. “And never come back, right?” I growled, raising a brow.

For the first time in an hour, Montgomery turned his disdainful gaze our way. His nose wrinkled when he saw me holding my Mate. “As if I’d want to have anything to do with this disgusting little town or a disgusting little monster-fu?—”

My growl was echoed by, to my surprise, Montgomery’s lawyer.

“My client will refrain from casting aspersion upon anyone here,” he assured all of us.

“Eastshore is lovely, he is, of course, impressed, and is glad that his money will be going toward helping this charming community. Moreover, he is thrilled his dearly departed partner’s daughter has made a home here, and agrees that she should be left alone indefinitely.

” The man shot Montgomery a glare. “ Isn’t that right ? ”

I could see a muscle in Montgomery’s jaw working before he finally looked away and spat, “That’s right. I’m thrilled. Let’s get out of here.”

I managed to hold in my laughter until the two men had left but lost my battle as soon as I heard the outer door close. Then I was on my feet, pulling Sami to me and lifting her against me as my chest rumbled.

“What an asshole,” my wife announced primly, and my laughter doubled.

Harper was also chuckling as she gathered her papers. “I’m going to add in a clause about slander. I don’t know if they’ll leave it in, and honestly, I’m not going to fight for it. But if it works, maybe it’ll make Montgomery think twice before he says horrible things about you to his friends. ”

“I don’t care!” Sami planted a kiss on my cheek, which was possible only because I was holding her off the ground. “I don’t have any intention of going back to that world, to seeing those people. Let him blame me for whatever he wants, as long as he stays away.”

“Once he has full control of the company, he will,” I assured her. “We won’t have to deal with him ever again.”

“Of course,” Harper reminded us, “you still own several of your father’s personal properties?—”

“I’m not going back to sell them,” my Mate assured both of us. “I’m sure I can find a realtor in the city not connected to Montgomery’s people who can get us a fair price with an absentee sale. We’ll take the money and use it to fund more scholarships.”

Hells, this woman was perfect, wasn’t she? I kissed her nose. “Or sponsor the local teams so they’ll all have Sami Shayson, Eastshore’s Top Realtor blazoned across their jerseys.”

She kissed me right back, her legs wrapping around my waist for stability.

And when she came up for air, she was smiling.

“Or we’ll start a college savings fund for our foster kids.

They’ll need a hand up when it comes to fulfilling their dreams.” Another, briefer kiss. “And we’ll do it in honor of Torrah. ”

By all the gods below.

“I love you,” I whispered, voice choked, clutching her to me. “I love you so fucking much.”

Her lips curled against mine. “Good, because I love you. ”

Now, how to make her understand? “You are my home.” Kiss . “You are my forever.” Kiss. “You are my heart, my breath.” Kiss. Kiss .

Sami’s hands cupped my cheeks. “And you are my Mate, Tarkhan.”

Hmm. Maybe she did understand.

Dimly, I heard typing, and my Kteer told me Harper had moved to her desk next door to give us some privacy. “I love you,” I whispered again.

Sami stretched up, using her hold on my cheeks to turn my head so she could whisper in my ear. “Can I tell you what my T-shirt means now?”

When I smiled, my cheeks squished against her palms. “Is it naughty?”

“Very naughty.”

I groaned, dropping my forehead. “If you do, I won’t have any self-control.”

“Oh dear.” She wriggled against me, her warmth cradling my hard cock. “What a shame.”

“Sami,” I warned, “Harper needs us to go over this contract she’s writing up.”

“It’ll take her at least an hour.”

My resolved wavered. “Sami…”

Grinning, she arched her back, her tits outlined against the silk blouse she’d chosen for the day. “ Shut the fuck up… ”

What was the acronym? STFUACOTDLADLS. “Sami! ”

She responded to the warning in my tone by wriggling her hips, and my Kteer howled to take claim own love claim !

My Mate, my wife…she merely grinned in challenge. “Shut The Fuck Up And Come On This Dick Like A Dirty Little Slut.”

Gods below .

I stared down at her, hardly able to believe the way such a command from such perfect little lips, could cause my cock to throb in such need. “Dirty little slut?” I choked.

And Sami, holding my gaze, nodded solemnly. “Only for you, Tarkhan.”

With a growl, I lifted her, tossing her over my shoulder and ignoring her surprised squeal. As I strode out, I called out, “Back in an hour, Harper! I’m taking my Mate for a little ride.”

“A ride, hmm?” Sami managed.

And when we reached the door, we were both laughing.
