‘You’ll Crawl For Her-Pro Ea Tibi Serpere’

I was going to kill each and every one of the Council members.

I was going to play with their souls, poking holes into them before ripping them from their bodies and letting them watch me devour them.

Then, oh then I was going to string that damn coffee maker up by her feet and have the Vamps come out to play.

How dare she play Amaya like that. How DARE she trick her with friendship and kindness. She was the fucking granddaughter of that stuck-up Councilman Mikhail.

I couldn't rein in my vines. My fire refused to go out. No amount of Mayfeaver helped. Rí was just as bad; his skin rippled and his hair stood at all angles as he paced back and forth, growls and rumbles spilling from his chest.

“We need to go to the portal, the one she came through,” Cole spoke in a low tone, trying not to cause any more anger to Rí and his dragon.

“When we have her back, I want everything, and I mean fucking everything you know,” Rí growled as he stripped his shirt from his back and strode from the bar.

Following behind, we stopped as Rí burst into his dragon in the street. The few late stragglers jumped back as his giant black tale swished as he lifted his massive head, giving a loud angry growl when we didn’t immediately climb on his back.

Guess we were riding Rí tonight.

Cole looked nervous as he swiftly climbed on to Rí’s back, the heat pouring from his scales already pulling beads of sweat down his pale skin.

I knew he must be thinking that this was a ploy to fly him high into the night before dropping him to his death.

I think I’d be happier if that was the plan.

But Amaya came first.

She was gone. I could feel it in my bones. The empty cold spot that her quiet presence usually filled ached with the knowledge that she wasn’t in this realm. She had gone through the portal.

I gritted my teeth as my body burst into blue flames, and my stomach cramped with the need to consume a soul. I placed another Mayfeaver between my lips before it fell through my now skeletal form.

“ Fuck! ”

An ear-splitting roar of utter rage shook the ground. Stones fell from the old buildings as the closed stalls from the morning market collapsed in heaps of dust.

Rí felt her absence also.

“She’s gone. GONE because of YOU!” I screamed at the pathetic White Witch as I threw myself atop of the dragon. I was barely able to grab onto one of his humps before he took off in a speed that had my empty eye sockets whistling.

“If any harm comes to our Mate because of you,” I added with disgust, “prepare for my goddamn wrath, White Witch.”

He stared out towards the trees as we approached the Village, his own fear and panic obvious on his face.

I jumped from Rí’s back before he even landed then ran to the crumbled shack, that I knew she came from.

I had made sure to know everything about her.

Rí had told me about her human life, the abusive human who, if I got my hands on, would be tortured fully before I ate his soul and burned his flesh from his bones.

I had retraced her steps from the crumbled shack to the forest to Rí’s bar.

Walking in her prints in the sand as she did, I had laid on the wooden door coated in her dried blood.

I did this because I needed to be where she had been, needed to feel what she felt. Because she was mine. Ours.

I stopped at the shack; my glowing blue flames mixed with Rí’s bright red eyes causing a purple hue to cast around the ruin.

It was empty.

She had gone through.

She had left us.

She had left me.

Gone.

I was going to fucking find her. And punish her.

I was going to bring her to the peak of utter pleasure before I splattered it with pain .

She was mine and she left.

“She went through. She did it.” Cole walked around the ruin in shock, his face pale as he looked to us.

“The Council, they have something planned. I wasn’t with it enough to understand…they have something planned to bring her to her full power. That...shit if she’s at full power, the portals will open. The human–”

“Fuck the humans! Our Mate is through there. If one hair on her head, one fucking hair is hurt, I will BURN WISTERIA TO THE FUCKING GROUND!” Rí roared at him as his skin rippled once more.

Unable to contain his dragon, he stalked off, pacing the sooty dust beside the stain-covered pieces of wood containing Amaya’s old blood.

“They planned all this. And we played right into their hands.” I concentrated enough to regain my skin as I pulled a Mayfeaver out. Inhaling deeply and long, I hoped the drug would cloud my brain enough for me to actually focus.

“If she’s the only one that can go through, then all we can do is fucking wait. She’ll come back; she’ll have the boys with her. So let’s prepare for their arrival,” I nodded to myself as I mentally planned for the arrival of two traumatized boys.

Clearing his throat Cole nodded back. “I’ll beg on my knees for her forgiveness, but you have to understand that none of this was me . He did this to me.”

Flicking the remaining ash from my smoke, I pushed him against the blackened wall.

“You crawl on your damn knees. She’s a fucking queen.

My queen. And you’ll do well to remember to treat her like one.

” My vines sneaked out and wrapped around his wrists, opening up his healing wounds from them last time.

“You keep saying he, he who? Who poisoned you?” Rí stopped his pacing and stood glaring at him, his canines peeking out from his lips ready to clamp down and tear into flesh.

Good, I’d fucking join him.

The words out of Cole's mouth next had me freezing. “Mikhail. It was always Mikhail. He killed some of the Dark Witches, took their magic for himself. I overheard him telling my father.” Fuck. Mother fucking fucker.

We all knew what he had to do to gain magic from the Dark Witches.

He slammed his head back against the wall with a crack.

“I thought I was ill, weak, being part of the Council and their blood line. They filled my brain with poison, and I never saw what they truly were, not until it was too late. By then, I was already fucked, already their pawn to move.” Slamming it back again, he caused a wet smear of blood to drip down as he gripped his hair.

The Cole I saw and knew around the Light City was always immaculately dressed, well presented with a firm look of pure distain on his face. He looked down at anyone who travelled from the Shadow Land, even with him sneaking through for the good stuff Rí provided.

But this Cole looked every bit sick and deranged as I did. The scatty look in his eyes was bright with the sickness that plagued us all, smothered our souls and filled us with coldness. Chuckling, I stepped back, lit another smoke and stared at the spot Rí said the crack had been.

“We’ll kill them all. We’ll watch our Mate take her rightful place at the top of the pecking order and I’ll hand her their bones shaped into a damn bird cage for her little pet.”

It was as if Rí’s rumble summoned the bird.

It flew down and landed onto my bony shoulder, curving its sharp talons around the bone and scratching groves.

Beady black eyes watched me as I stared back in trepidation.

Something about this bird was definitely off.

Because there it was again, that pull, that void that wanted to swallow me whole.

Flinging itself from my body it slammed into an invisible wall of pure electric power before disappearing into thin air.

Fuck me. The crack.

That damn bird flew through.

Looking back at the two equally shocked men behind me, I pulled the Mayfeaver from my pocket, lit it with my flames, smiled widely, and took a big risk by slamming my own body into the Crack.

There was no fucking way in hell, I was leaving Amaya to face that monster once again.
