Page 36 of Murgul

No… I did not.

Gwendolyn’s matting collar looks like dark flames etched into her colorless skin. The black—nodark green—flames lick up her neck in delicate swirls to kiss the bottom of her jaw, before trailing downward in elegant lines across her entire chest and between her perky breasts.

“Little Starshine, roll over for me, please.”

She does not hesitate and silently does as I ask. My breath catches when I see the flame-shaped mark covering her entire back, and perky arse as well.

Reaching out, I gently roll her onto her back and bury my face into the crook of her neck, breathing her in. Soft hands delve into my tangled, colorless hair, and she soothingly pets me.

“Is there something wrong with my mating collar?”

Jerking back, I look at her in bewilderment.

“There is nothing wrong with it at all! I am blessed that your collar is so dark, so enchantingly beautiful, anda direct reflection of me. Bright one, your collar is the same color as my hide, and it is flames.”

Craning her neck, she peers down at her breast and only scents of moderate surprise as she inspects the new additions to her body. “I always wanted a tattoo, but was too scared of the pain to get one—not to mention I wasn’t allowed to mar my money-making body in any way. This looks very similar to some of the tribal body suits I saw back on Earth. This is beautiful, Murgul. I love it.”

Breath I did not know I was holding escapes me in a rush as I pull her into a crushing embrace.

“You are a blessing, my bright Starshine. Thank you for giving me a chance, and for loving me. I will ensure it is a decision you never regret.”

And I will ensure he does not let life get monotonous. Murgul has a tendency to be a bore.

I do not! There is nothing wrong with living a mundane life.

Bah, mundane you say? Sounds like a fate worse than death.

The soft sound of snickering interrupts our argument, and I look down at Gwendolyn to see that she has a hand pressed against her mouth, and her eyes are sparkling with mirth.

“What?”

At our dual question, she loses her hold on her humor and breaks out in a fit of giggling that turns into belly-shaking laughter. Tics go by, and eventually she regains her composure. “Do the two of you bicker like that all the time?”

Wiping the tears of mirth from her eyes, she waits for an answer.

No.

Yes.

Conflicting answers send her into another bout of laughter at our expense, and we both sit and watch as she slowly gets a hold of herself. “Well, I can honestly say that I won’t ever be bored.”

She opens her mouth to say something else when a crash outside the door causes her to jump, and a snarl of aggravation escapes me.

“Tend your pet, I will see what in the worlds those frackers are doing out there.”

I do not wait for her to say anything before I am off the bed, slipping into the pair of discarded trousers I left on the divan before stomping out the door. Frackers should not have interrupted bonding time with my little bright Starshine.

Vrog, how do you feel about introducing yourself?

FRACKIN’ FINALLY!

My body shifts as Vrog’s presence alters my physical forms. Just before I exit our quarters, I look back and wink at my mate and duck out the door.

Chaos greets me.

I have waited for this rotation for so long.
