Page 65 of Monsterland Mayhem
We land a few seconds later in a room shrouded in obsidian rock.
Craze pins me to the wall, his lips parting on a slight pant, his body vibrating with barely restrained power.
I look up into his black eyes, utterly transfixed by the last few minutes.
He already proved himself to be deadly with those cards.
Now he just demonstrated how lethal he can be with avine.
This Alpha is…fascinating.
And beautiful.
And pure, sculpted muscle.
I… I don’t even know what to say. I’m too lost to find the words to speak. The ropes tighten around me, holding me captive as his mouth hovers above mine, his hands on my waist.
My heart stops beating.
My lungs cease to work.
All I can do is stare at the man before me.
I don’t know if we’re safe here. I don’t even know wherehereis. I just… give in to the madness. The chaos. The Monsterland mayhem.
And press my lips to his.
CHAPTER SEVENTEEN
CATUM
Where the hellis that damn cat?I wonder, irritated by this futile search.
I received a missive this morning from the enchanted creature, telling me he possessed important information.
But as per usual, that missive came with a riddle, one Krolic and I have spent the last hour trying to decipher.
All I want to do is return to the Tavern and wake Ailsa up with my tongue between her thighs.
Alas, here we are, wandering the Rose Maze just outside of the Royal Palace. If anyone catches us here, we’ll be even more delayed.
And potentially ousted.
Both outcomes are undesirable.
“Perhaps the flower on the card isn’t a rose,” I mutter, pulling it out again to examine. The thorns are rather clear, as is the blood dripping from the tips. But thus far, we haven’t found any mutilated flowers.
“How many paw prints were there again?” Krolic asks. “Five?”
I nod, counting the doodling steps around the rose. We assumed they stood for directions on where to go once inside themaze. Yet everything we’ve tried so far has failed to reveal the notorious pink-furred cat. His hair is magenta colored in human form, too. Pretty hard to miss, even in this vibrantly colored maze.
“I have not missed playing this game,” Krolic growls as we reach yet another dead end. “I swear the Beta does this on purpose.”
“What better purpose than to confuse a king?” comes a soft male voice from right in front of us.
I roll my eyes. “You’ve been following us around for the last ten minutes, haven’t you?” Because that is absolutely something Ches would do.
“Thirty-five,” he murmurs as he removes his cloaking spell to reveal himself. “But who’s counting?”
