"Score and win for us," he says, sitting next to Kory who is filling his plate.
Things may not be perfect yet, but we're headed the right direction.I couldn't ask for more.
Epilogue - Kory
Thingshavebeenbettersince the intervention at the pack land.Mason has more patience with Hex's insecurities and Hex is starting to believe Mason is sticking around.
For a while, I wondered where I fit into this whole thing, but then I realized I'm the one who grounds them.Somehow, despite both of them being physically stronger than me, I ended up with most of the power. Those two, exasperating yet loveable assholes, would kill to give me the moon if I asked them to.Fortunately, for them, I don't want the moon.I do, however, want information, which is why I am about to activate mouse mode.
Stripping down, I shift into my mouse form and scurry into the living room where Hex and Mason are watching a movie. After scaling Mason's pant leg, I sit on his knee and reach my forepaws up.
"He's being adorable again," Hex says, keeping his eyes on the TV.
"Yeah, which usually means we're fucked," Mason replies, pausing the movie.
"Baby, you don't need to go through all these theatrics. We can't say no to you, and you know it."
I may not need to go through all this, but it doesn't hurt to add some extra oomph.Shifting back to my human skin, I end up naked on Mason's lap, which also doesn't hurt my case one bit.
"Mason, my sexy, strong wolf, I need to do some research for a story I'm working on and it would be so, so helpful if you and my awesomely talented witch would call Ravock and ask him some questions about demon legions."
"Just what is this story about, love?"Hex asks, raising an eyebrow.
I look down at my fingernails like they're the most interesting thing on the planet."It might be, and I'm not saying it is, but it might be, about an innocent little mouse shifter who is captured by some big, bad demons and needs his strong, sexy wolf and uber-talented witch to rescue him."
Hex sighs, but his lips are twitching when I look at him as he fights the smile trying to break through.
"I'll flip you for it," he says to Mason.
"How does the story end," Mason ask me.
"With the little mouse waiting for his mating bite," I say, a bit breathless at the intensity of Mason's gaze on me.
"I think we need to change the ending, mouse."
I shiver at the growl in his voice and the wolf peering through his eyes.
Hex and I went through the official mating weeks ago, but Mason wanted to give that time to settle before we completed our bond.He said Hex and I deserved that time together, which was thoughtful of him.But I'm ready for us to be whole.I didn't think me asking about research for my story would be the catalyst, but you won't hear me complaining about it.
"I'll call Ravock," Hex says."Where's your list of questions, baby?"
"Phone notes," I say, my eyes never leaving Mason's.
"I'll be at the club house in Bison Ridge," Hex says.
It's the rule between us that no one leaves without letting someone know where they're going. And, in the future, when Mason or Hex can't tell where they'll be for security reasons, they'll say they're going on a mission so we all know what's up.It's helped Hex a lot to have that kind of communication rule in place.
Somewhere in the background, I register the sound of the front door closing, then Mason and I are all over each other. It's a blur of his clothes flying, and us skin-to-skin.We don't even make it off the couch when we sink our teeth into each other and the force of the completed mate bond hits us like a tsunami.
The front door slams open, startling me.I'm surprised I can make sense of anything with the intensity of the energy running through me, but Hex looks wild as he pants as if he's run a marathon.
"Bedroom, now," he chokes out, leaving a trail of clothes as he heads that direction.
"Can you walk?"Mason asks me.
"I'll crawl if I have to.I'm not missing out on the most epic sex of my life."
