As to your accusation that I treated you callously, if you truly think that, I’m sorry. If it’s the emotional release talking, I would have sincerely liked to have been there to help you ride it out. I want to be very clear.

Letting you explain yourself would have served no purpose.

There was no reason you could have given that would have made tardiness acceptable. You didapologize, and I accepted, but that doesn’t change your punishment. You took your punishment and that means it’s over now and in the past.

As to fulfilling promises, the punishment for tardiness was explicitly detailed in section 24 b of the contract you signed so prettily and assured me that you had read.

I don’t want apologies. I want corrected behavior, and if I don’t enforce our contract, then it’s useless, on both ends.

It was really long. I was tired that week, and I kinda skimmed the punishment section because I had no intention of misbehaving.

It could have led to a much worse outcome than this, particularly if I had attempted to punish you in a more severe way that I thought you had consented to.
