Wednesday
Zoey
Emma was still doing “surveillance” at Callum’s house. And I honestly didn’t expect to hear from her any time soon. I was hoping my bank job would lead to a sexy night with my men. I could only hope the same for her too.
I’d drawn up some schematics of the bank.
I knew the vault code. And I already knew how to get into the bank in the first place.
But now that I knew there was a roof, I loved the idea of escaping that way.
Unfortunately, I had no idea where the door to the roof was.
Hence the reason why I was surprising the guys with dinner.
I walked up the bank steps, balancing the bags of groceries in my arms as I opened the door. They’d be closing soon. This was my chance to get them all relaxed and maybe have them spill some secrets about the bank.
Could I just ask to take a look inside the vault? Sure. But where the hell was the fun in that?
Besides, I wanted to prove to them that I could be one of them. Their ride-or-die bad bitch.
The door closed behind me, the thud reverberating around the empty bank.
Where was everyone? My high heels echoed on the floor as I walked toward the counter.
Bennett’s office door was open, but he was nowhere in sight.
I set the bags down on the counter and stared at the vaults.
All the doors were closed. But all the doors were always closed.
Still, I held my breath and listened. Because if the vault doors were closed…that meant that one of my boyfriends could be locked up behind one. Or…several of them. My heart started racing as I stepped behind the counter.
I remembered it feeling like the walls were shaking. The metal banging had haunted my dreams. I stopped in front of the vault that Otto said was his. I lifted my hand and pressed it against the cold metal.
“What are you doing?” said a deep voice.
I spun around. Titan was standing only a few feet behind me. I hadn’t heard him approach at all.
“Nothing,” I said. I swallowed hard. Being all alone with him in this bank felt almost as terrifying as when he’d transformed and was baring his teeth at me.
“It doesn’t look like nothing,” he said.
The last thing I wanted was for him to suspect me of pulling a bank job right before I pulled it. “I was just wondering if the guys were locked up right now.”
“Why?” He stepped closer to me.
“Because I care about them,” I said. Titan’s dark eyes bore into mine. I tried to focus on them instead of the scar down his left cheek. Had one of his friends done that to him? Or had it been from something else?
“You expect me to believe that?” He took another step closer.
And this time, I took a step back, my butt colliding with the cold metal vault door. My heart started racing even faster. Any other one of them and this moment would have felt thrilling in a very different way. But right now, I was just scared of him. And the angry glint in his gaze.
“I don’t know what game you’re playing, but it ends now,” Titan said.
“I…I’m not playing any games.” I hated that my voice was betraying me. I didn’t want him to know that I was scared.
“Listen to me very closely, doll. Because I’m only going to repeat myself once. This. Ends. Now.”
I tried to swallow down the lump in my throat. “What ends?”
He lowered his eyebrows as he took another step closer, caging me in against the vault. “The lies. The games. The fake relationships you’ve wormed your way into with my friends.”
What the hell was he talking about? “I like your friends. A lot. And they’re a hell of a lot nicer than you .”
The corner of his mouth ticked up. “Oh, you don’t know the half of it.”
What did he mean by that? If he was implying that he was even ruder than he’d already showed me…then I didn’t want to see it.
I tried to stand up a little straighter even though he was towering above me. “I’m not going to stop dating them.”
“Yes. You are.”
“No.” I stared him dead in the eye. “I’m not.” And who was he to tell me I couldn’t? Bennett was the one who decided. And Bennett had said yes. Titan could go fuck himself. Literally. Because he wouldn’t be getting anything from me .
He lowered his eyebrows even more, almost like he could hear the rude things I was saying about him in my head.
But I swear for maybe a fraction of a second, he glanced at my lips. If I’d blinked I would have missed it.
“Titan, enough,” someone said.
I turned my head to see Bennett standing on the other side of the counter with his arms folded across his chest. I’d never been so relieved to see him.
Titan grunted. It looked like he wanted to punch the vault door above my head.
Instead he leaned forward, his lips hovering by my ear. “Watch your back, doll. The truth has a funny way of showing up when you least expect it and knocking you on your ass. And I’ll be the one laughing.”
What the fuck was he talking about? I liked his friends. I wasn’t lying.
Titan tapped the vault door above my head instead of hitting it, and then stepped back.
I brushed past him and grabbed the grocery bags off the counter. “Hey,” I said to Bennett, trying to hide the tremor in my voice. “I brought you guys dinner. Otto showed me the grill on the roof last night. And I thought we could have a cookout…”
Bennett grabbed the bags from my hands. “Come with me, Zoey.” He didn’t say another word as he walked me down a hallway and opened the second door on the left.
I hadn’t expected Titan to accost me. But I had expected it to be easy to get one of them to show me the entrance to the roof. I walked up the stairs.
The rest of the guys were already up here .
Otto stood up when he saw me. “Zoey, are you okay?”
I nodded.
He stepped forward, but Bennett blocked his path. “She brought us dinner. If the three of you could start preparing it, I need a moment alone with Zoey.” He handed them the bags.
“Thanks for bringing dinner, Zoey,” Huxley said as he looked into one of the bags. “We were just about to order takeout and this looks so much better. And I have something for you later too.” He winked at me and walked over to the grill. Ace and Otto followed him.
All I wanted to do was run after them. But Bennett but his hand on my lower back, guiding me toward where they had been sitting.
God, not another moment alone with someone who I was pretty sure hated me. Although, I’d take talking to Bennett any day over talking to Titan.
Bennett gestured for me to take a seat. I sat down and was surprised when he sat down right next to me. So close that our thighs were practically touching.
“What did Titan say to you?” he asked.
“Nothing of any value.”
Bennett smiled. “He’ll come around.”
“Will he?”
“I’m sure of it.”
I stared at him. “And what about you?”
“What about me?”
“Will you…come around to me?”
“I think we somehow got off on the wrong page, Zoey.”
I smiled. “Not really. The friend zone isn’t such a bad place to start out. ”
“That’s actually exactly what I’m talking about. I was speaking to Emma yesterday and…”
“Oh. You don’t have to say anything else. I know this is weird. Since the two of you were dating. We can stay friends, Bennett. If that’s what you want. I understand.”
“That’s definitely not what I’m trying to say. And what about what happened last night makes you think we’re just friends?”
He’d touched me. In the middle of the bank. I’d loved every second of it. But… “You were just making a point to your friends.”
“There are other ways to make a point. I did that because I wanted to. I’ve wanted to for a while actually.”
What? I just stared at him. “But you wanted me to set you up with Emma.”
He laughed. “I never asked you to do that. If you don’t recall, you practically had to beg me to go on that blind date.”
I pressed my lips together. Yeah, I did remember. “Because you thought she must be hideous or something. But she’s not. And you still like her…”
“Zoey. I only mentioned Emma because she said something to me yesterday that made me realize what a dick I’ve been to you.
When I originally told you that I was looking for something serious, I wasn’t turning you down.
I was legit asking you if you wanted something serious with me.
Because I liked you . And you told me that you weren’t looking for anything serious and immediately said your friend was coming to town and that I should meet her.
And after talking to Emma, she made me realize that you thought that I turned you down.
But Zoey…I thought you turned me down. ”
“I wasn’t turning you down. I just…thought you’d never be interested in someone like me.”
“Someone like you?” He smiled. “Someone smart, and confident, and brave, and beautiful?”
I couldn’t even hide my smile. “But what about Emma?”
“What about Emma? She and I are done.”
“You only just broke up.”
“Honestly?” He sighed. “I think I liked the idea of what we could be more than I actually liked her.” He looked over his shoulder at his friends at the grill.
“The five of us have travelled a lot. We’re ready to settle down.
And I’ve been picturing what that could mean in my head for so long that I just wanted to get to that point. ”
“So you weren’t in love with her?”
“No, I wasn’t in love with her. And I want us to be able to move past this. Yes, I dated your friend. But I liked you first, Zoey.”
He liked me first?
His eyes searched mine.
It was like he was waiting for me to respond, but I didn’t know what to say. He’d taken me by surprise. I couldn’t believe he thought I’d turned him down. I’d definitely thought the exact opposite.
Bennett cleared his throat. “Well, I should go help them before they burn something.” He stood up to walk over to the grill.
But I grabbed his hand.
“I liked you first too.”
This time, he didn’t say anything .
I stood up and intertwined my fingers with his. “When you first moved to town, I had the biggest crush on you.”
He smiled. “Yeah?”
“Oh, don’t look so full of yourself.” I lightly pushed on his chest
He caught my hand before I could pull it away.
And we just stood there. One of my hands against his chest and my other hand holding his.
“What are you thinking?” he asked.
I bit the inside of my lip. “Honestly?”
He nodded.
“Did you and Emma have sex?”
“No. I’m assuming you heard about the Ferris wheel. I also went down on her. But that was it.”
That was it? But… “She never returned the favor?”
His Adam’s apple rose and fell as he stared down at me. “No.”
Really? Like…seriously? Emma, girl! Of all the talk about his dick being as big as an éclair…
I stared into his blue eyes. Bennett liked me back.
He wanted to give this thing a real shot.
And as far as I was concerned, I already owed him one orgasm from last night. “Well, I’ve always loved éclairs.”
“Then maybe you should get on your knees.” He let go of my hands.
Fuck. His words mixed with the way he was staring at me had my heart pounding against my ribcage. He hadn’t done this with Emma. But he wanted to do this with me. I dropped to my knees in front of him.
“You were right about me, Zoey.” He lightly touched the side of my jaw. “I like an audience.” His thumb traced my lower lip .
Jesus. I just knelt there, staring up at him, waiting for him to tell me what to do next.
“And what’s better than an appetizer before dinner? Undo my belt.”
I reached out and unbuckled it.
“Keep going.”
I unbuttoned and unzipped his dress pants. I could see his hard cock pressing against his boxers.
“We were never just friends, Zoey. Because I’ve dreamed of this moment with you. Your lips around my cock.”
God, me too.
“Show me that you’re better than my dreams.”
I shifted forward on my knees and pushed his boxers down. I stared up at him as I wrapped my lips around his tip.
“Can you feel their eyes on us?” he asked as his fingers gripped my hair.
Knowing that Otto, Ace, and Huxley were watching just made me even wetter.
“They wish it was their cocks in the back of your throat.” He shifted forward, gripping my hair harder so that I’d stay in place.
I would have choked if I didn’t have so much practice with phallic fruit. And I loved dessert, but this was so much better than deep-throating an éclair.
“All they can see from the grill, is the top of your head behind the couch, bobbing up and down on my cock.”
I moaned. Just the thought of them staring turned me on even more. I thought about being with Huxley and Ace at the same time. How they’d filled me from both sides. I trailed my hand up my thigh. I needed to feel release like that. With their eyes on me.
“Stop,” Bennett said.
My hand froze in place.
“You don’t need to touch yourself, Zoey. There are perks to being with more than one man at once. What do you want?” He started guiding my mouth up and down his cock. “Do you want Otto’s tongue? He moved my head up and down his length faster. “Huxley’s fingers?”
I moaned around his cock. God, he was going to make me come with just his words. I tightened my lips around him.
Bennett groaned. “Or maybe you want Ace’s cock?” Bennett slammed into the back of my throat.
I moaned again.
He stared down at me. “How about all of it?”
