ORI

Nervous didn't even begin to describe how I felt about meeting Cord, Andro, and their omegas.

I debated so much about when to reveal who I was and why I was there.

Of course, I was not going to follow through with my idiotic plan.

I knew too much about my father now. And also about Andro and Cord and how they ran their business.

They were not the villains in the story.

Rosco deserved the truth about who I was. I needed him to know, even if it would hurt him. In time I hoped he would forgive me.

It would come to light sooner rather than later, and if my uncle insisted on getting his revenge, he would not stop just because I gave up the mission .

When Rosco came back after his long day, I was dressed and ready for dinner.

Thankfully, since he and I began our relationship, I had started carrying a bag full of things I would need for staying over at his house, although I knew now that this was more his house than the apartment he had taken me to in the past.

I wore a pair of black skinny jeans, with a silver sweater that fell off one shoulder. Meanwhile, Rosco wore the same black dress pants, white button-up, and black jacket he’d worn when he left this morning. He appeared as if he had freshly showered. My brow wrinkled as I looked at him.

He laughed. "I showered after I worked out. I figured if I came up here without being ready to leave that I would get too distracted, and we would end up late."

"Distracted by what?" I asked with a knowing smile.

He gripped my hips and pulled me to him. "Distracted by whom," he said, and he captured my lips with his.

I melted into his embrace. I’d spent the whole day in this man’s bed, surrounded by his scent, yet I couldn’t get enough of him .

He groaned against my lips. “I could get used to coming home to this.”

“I think you can. You did ask me to stay. Maybe I will take that literally and just never leave this room. I will live only to serve you.”

Rosco’s eyes darkened, and he ground his hips against me. “Do not tempt me with such things, omega.”

There was a knock on the door.

"What?" he shouted.

"Boss wanted me to come up and get you so you're not late."

Rosco chuckled. "Cord’s being impatient.”

“We better go," I said, and I laced my fingers into his.

I hadn't left the room at all today. I took the opportunity to sleep and catch up on some reading.

I didn't want to explore the house at all.

One, there was the off chance that someone could recognize me, and two, I did not want my little revelation to cause any issues and have them wondering why I was wandering around.

The whole walk down to the dining room, scenarios ran through my mind of what could happen when I revealed who I was. It could all go so badly.

Rosco lifted my hand to his lips and kissed it. "Your palms are sweating."

I shot him a glare. "A gentleman wouldn't point that out."

He laughed. "Sweetheart, I am not a gentleman. Surely, you know this."

We stepped into the dining room before I could come up with a comeback. Cord was seated at the head of the table, his omega, who I knew to be Avery—formerly known as Velvet—sat at his side, perched on his lap.

To Cord’s left was Andro. Next to him, his mate, Joey. Jeremiah was at the bar, filling a glass, and with him was his mate, Felik. I also recognized Trev and Rowan.

"Fantastic of you to join us," Cord said.

Rosco stepped into the room, not batting an eye at his boss's playfulness. "We're not even late. Honestly, I'm surprised the two of you are on time."

"Such disrespect that I put up with. Andro, can you believe this?" Cord said .

Rosco walked me over to where Cord sat. Cord stood, Avery coming with him.

"Boss, I'd like you to meet Ori Johnson, my mate." Rosco brought me forward so that I was standing next to his side, his hand on my lower back.

Cord raised a brow. "Official titles already? My congratulations." He held his hand out to me, and I shook it. I was shaking like a leaf, my gaze flickering between Cord and Andro.

"Oh, young omega, do you need a drink to calm your nerves? You look like you're walking to your execution. I'm not scary, I promise."

Avery swatted at his chest. "Give him a break. You are kind of scary. Hi, it's really nice to meet you," he said as he turned to me.

"It's nice to meet you all as well," I managed to spit out.

"Let us introduce you to everyone, then. I'm sure you recognize Andro, his mate Joey. There’s Felik and Jeremiah as well. And then you've already met Trev and Rowan," Cord said. “There. Now introductions are done and we can get down to the fun stuff.”

I recognized all of them from the research I’d done on the family .

Cord sat down and gestured for Rosco and me to do the same. "Dinner will be served shortly. I thought we could all use a little time to ourselves first. Tell us about yourself, Ori. What is it about you that has captured our Rosco’s heart?"

Rosco placed an arm on the back of my chair.

I swallowed thickly. How did I ever think I was going to go through with whatever crazy plan I had thought I was going to do?

Did I really think I was going to execute Cord or Andro to avenge my father?

I couldn't even come clean about who I was right now in the moment, nor did I know what would happen to me once I did. Perhaps I should have left or I should have told Rosco who I was in private. There were too many people and too many outcomes. What if Rosco didn’t love me enough to protect me?

That thought made my blood run cold and my stomach drop like a stone sinking in a lake.

My mouth grew dry, so I reached for a cup of water.

But instead of grabbing it, I spilled it.

"Oh, shit, I'm sorry." I looked around frantically. They all had to know I was hiding something. Normal people didn’t behave this way.

Rosco put a hand to the back of my neck. "Perhaps we're all a little too overwhelming. "

Cord shifted in his seat. "We mean you no harm. I know I'm not a regular guy, and this might be terrifying for you, but you have nothing to be afraid of here, Ori."

"But I do," I said, not entirely on purpose. My mouth wasn’t cooperating.

Cord raised a brow. "What do you mean?"

It was now or never… I had to tell them. “My last name's not Johnson—it's Russo." My stomach dropped as I said the words, and everybody around me was giving me shocked stares.

Andro’s eyes narrowed, and he stood, putting space between his mate and me. "What the hell do you think you're doing here?"

I swallowed thickly and willed my eyes to stay dry. "I came to avenge my father—" I couldn't get any more words out before someone came up behind me and yanked me from my chair. They had me on the ground before I could even attempt to get away.

There was too much movement for me to see, but Rosco was shouting, "Don't touch him! Let him go!"

Then there was the distinct sound of a fist hitting someone, and Rosco’s voice went quiet .

"You'll be dealt with later," Cord’s voice rang out. "Trev, you have him secured?"

"Yes, sir."

Someone’s boot was in my back. It was probably Trev’s.

My arms were pulled back, stretching unnaturally, and my sweater had been ripped in the scuffle.

Trev yanked my arms behind my back and roughly tied them. Did he always carry around zip ties in case he needed to secure someone?

I was suddenly up on my feet.

Rosco was sitting in a chair with his nose bleeding.

Andro held a gun on him while Cord had one pointed at me.

Rosco’s eyes were wide as he searched mine, as if looking for some indication that what I said wasn’t true.

Joey, Avery, and Rowan all glared at me from where they stood behind Andro.

"You come into my home, threaten my family—" Cord began.

"I didn’t, I wasn’t?—"

"Then what purpose do you have here?" Cord shouted in my face, and I shook with fear. He was inches from my face, and if he kept questioning me, I’d probably do something stupid like start crying.

It wasn’t supposed to be this way. If they’d just listen. “I–”

Cord gripped my chin, squeezing my jaw so I couldn’t continue.

Rosco moved to stand, but Andro struck him with the butt of his weapon.

He tried to speak, but Cord shot him a glare.

"You have no right to speak. You brought a threat into my home, presented him as your mate to me and my family. The only reason you’re not bleeding out on my carpet is because I've known you too long to execute you in such a way. "

Rosco hung his head.

"It's not like that," I said. "Rosco, I?—"

He wouldn't look at me.

"I don't want revenge,” I continued. “I didn't know about the things my father did. Once I learned the truth, things changed. Rosco, I love you. "

"Save it." Cord pushed me back into Trev’s arms. “Lock him up and send a crew to get Rosco.”

“Yes, boss.”
