She sits, letting me fill her completely. Her eyes lock on mine as she whispers, “You really do it for me.”

“Is that right?” I push into her as much as I can from the bottom.

Her lashes flutter closed as she lets out a tiny moan. She’s already close and I don’t stand a chance with her squeezing me so tight. My skin is hot and tight as my muscles strain to fight off my orgasm.

“Keep those pretty eyes on me, Red. Let me see how good you look as you ride my dick.”

Her stare locks back on me as she starts to move again. My heart squeezes in my chest. Travis’s words from earlier flash in my mind and I wonder just for a moment if maybe he’s onto something.

I haven’t been able to picture myself dating in a long time, but if every night were just like this, I think I’d be the luckiest man alive.

“Nick,” she pants my name as she takes my cock.

“That’s it. Take what you need, baby.”

She’s right there. Fuck it’s a sight to behold. Lips parted, pupils blown wide, tits bouncing. Her dark lashes lower and then a cry rips from her throat.

I thrust harder. I’m out of my mind with the need to come. Her pussy clenches like a vise as the orgasm continues on and on. Goddamn. I never want this to end. I bury my head in the nape of her neck as I lose the battle, coming hard and letting out a roar.

“Oh, god.” Ruby comes a second time, whimpering as she tightens around me. A shiver rolling down my spine as we ride out the orgasm together. It feels like minutes pass as white noise fills my head and dots blur my vision.

We cling to each other, breaths ragged. Little shockwaves zap through me and a deep, contented sensation lodges into my chest.

She stills, forehead resting on my chest as she catches her breath. Slowly, she lifts her head and locks her gaze on me. A lazy smile pulls at her lips.

I brush my mouth over hers as I lift her gently off me. She stands in front of me, dress bunched up around her thighs. The evidence that I came inside her drips down her thigh. I don’t question the pleasure it gives me thinking about her filled up with my cum.

“I can now check off boat sex,” she says with a shy grin. “Thanks, Galaxy.”

I chuckle, the atmosphere turning light again. “Happy to help, Red.”

I find a towel to clean us up and once we’re dressed again, she settles back in my lap.

“It’s beautiful here.” She glances out at the water.

“It is,” I confirm.

“Will you stay here after hockey is over?”

“Yeah, I think so. What about you?”

“I thought about moving away from Lake City since I can work anywhere, but I really love being near my family. When I’m home, I see my sister and niece almost daily, and my parents and grandparents at least once a week.”

“I get that. Family is important.” It’s why I wanted to be here. Aidan should have all his family in one spot so he can grow up with a lot of important influences in his life. And Ruby should have that too.

“Thank you for what you did today,” she says, fingers curling in the hair at the nape of my neck. “Tossing Matt’s book in the lake.”

The reminder has me wishing I could go get it and do it all over again. Maybe set it on fire. “It was my pleasure.”

“And for letting me hang with your friends and intrude on your life. For everything, I guess.”

“You don’t need to thank me for any of it. I’m glad you’re here.”

“Me too.”

I wake up, as I usually do, a few hours after passing out. My arm searches for Ruby next to me, but the bed is empty. I open my eyes and find her sitting at the end of the mattress, legs crossed, with her laptop open.

“What are you doing?” I ask, voice rough with sleep.

She looks up and back at me, grinning. She fell asleep in my T-shirt. The material bunches around her hips. “Sorry. Did I wake you?”

“No, I don’t think so.” I glance at the screen of her laptop, recognizing the document as her book. “Are you working?”

“I had an idea, and I didn’t want to forget it,” she says with a sheepish grin, then goes back to typing. “It will just take me a minute. Promise.”

“It’s fine. Take your time.” I sit up and look over her shoulder. Her fingers fly over the keyboard. She looks sexy in my shirt, red hair falling over her shoulders, working on her book. It’s an image I’ve grown accustomed to, her hunched over her laptop.

My gaze falls to the words appearing on the screen. It takes my brain a second to follow along as I read, but when I do, I smile.

“You’re writing a sex scene.”

“Oh my god!” Both her hands shoot up to cover the screen. “You can’t read it yet.”

I look away to her startled face.

“Why not?”

“It isn’t done.”

“I know. He was still thrusting.”

Her mouth drops open, and her expression turns shy.

“How can you possibly be embarrassed after the things we’ve done together?”

“That was different.” Her hands drop but she still looks hesitant. She bites the corner of her lip. “Okay, if I let you read it, can you pretend it isn’t rough and filled with typos?”

“I doubt very much that I will find any typos. I think I stopped retaining grammar and writing rules in elementary school.”

Hesitantly, she lifts the computer off her lap and hands it to me.

“It’s a locker room scene. I had this dream…” She trails off, looking embarrassed, then waves a hand as if indicating I should just read it.

It shouldn’t be possible to get hard reading the words but that’s exactly what happens. She’s written a very thorough, very hot locker room scene that has me wondering a whole lot about this dream.

“Is the hockey stuff accurate?” she asks when I look up.

“I have no idea. I blacked out. Fuck, Ruby. This is good.”

“Really?”

I nod, and then take the laptop with me as I settle back against the headboard. She comes to sit next to me, worrying her lip.

I scroll back up and read another scene. This one isn’t sexy, but a hockey game scene. I remember her asking me questions for this one.

For the next hour, I read and she cuddles up beside me. Her nerves fall away after the tenth or eleventh time I assure her it’s really good.

“You’re so talented.” I already knew it, even before reading this. “I have a confession.”

“What?” she asks, a slight edge in her tone.

“I read Love Bites .”

Her eyes widen. “When?”

“Why didn’t you say anything?” Her expression falls. “Wait. Did you not like it?”

“No.” I chuckle. “It was great. But I had a hunch you’d be embarrassed if I mentioned it.”

“Yeah, that’s fair. I know it doesn’t make any sense, but it’s weird thinking about the people who know me in real life reading my work. I don’t go to their jobs and judge them, you know?”

“People judge me at work all the time.”

She tilts her head to the side. “Yeah, I guess so. We have another thing in common.”

“One more confession.”

“I like this game.”

“I also read the rest of your books.”

She huffs a quiet laugh. “All of them?”

I shrug one shoulder. “What can I say? You have me hooked.”

In more ways than one.
