Katherine hesitated; she didn’t quite want to put it the way Harry had. She wanted to put a more positive spin on it. “Something along the lines of ‘Every day is for living, and if you aren’t living every day, then what’s the point of it?’”
Anna pushed her bottom lip out and nodded. “Sounds like Dad. I hope he wasn’t any bother.”
“Your father is no bother to me; I adore him. Almost as much as I adore his beautiful daughter.” Katherine leaned forward and kissed Anna again but didn’t linger. “I’m going to leave now. I have some dead-wife emotions to deal with.”
Anna gestured to the door. “You deal away. I’ll be here if you need me. Say hi to Rebecca for me.” She winked.
Katherine smirked at Anna and tapped her lightly on the nose. “Good night, damsel.”
Anna tilted her head, her eyes questioning.
“Don’t ask.”
Katherine left the house and took out her phone, tapping out a message as she joined the high street.
I kissed the damsel! She says hi.
The phone rang within seconds. Katherine answered it.
“Tell me everything, now!”
Katherine chuckled. “I think I summed it up quite clearly in my text.”
“How do you feel?”
“Amazing, lighter, excited.”
“Fab. I hope I can meet her properly. I’m coming down at the weekend; my case will be over by then.”
“Okay, see you then.” Katherine hung up and continued her stride towards Abbey house.
For the first time in years, she felt optimistic and excited about the future.
