He had meant to hold back, play this out, but something about the way she gestured at Revna as though she were nothing snapped his patience in half. Patience that had been holding on by a thread, anyway.

“Revna might not be strong enough to end you,” he roared. “But Iam!”

He gave Yrsa no time to respond but wrapped his hand around her throat and drove her into the volcano when it exploded. When it let go in response to his sheer rage. It didn’t go nearly as easy as he had hoped when she wrapped her legs around his waist, grabbed his ass, and thrust images of Revna writhing in passion into his mind.

Just like that, his rage turned to lust, and he pulled Yrsa away from the fire.

“Fight her, Loki.” Though Cian was clearly tempted to help, he kept a wall of protective magic in front of Revna. “Fightit!”

He blinked at Cian’s demand, snapping out of Yrsa’s spell long enough to thrust her toward the flames again. How was she so powerful? How did she not wither in his grasp? Especially considering the unnatural influence the mirror had over her?

“HowdoI not wither?” she purred. Her eyes burst into flames and sucked him in until he was pulling her free from harm.

Ensuring she wasn’t destroyed yetagain.

“Perhaps it’s simple,” Yrsa whispered in his ear, grinding against an erection he couldn’t stop if he wanted to. “Perhaps you’re not nearly as powerful as you think.”

“But you are,”Revna said into his mind, yanking ever-so-slightly at the quicksand of Yrsa’s grip over him.“You’re every bit as powerful, Loki. I feel it. So fight her. Be strong!”

Her voice snapped him out of his reverie long enough to drive the succubus back into the fire once more. Yet, shamefully, he froze once again when her eyes grew brighter with flames. When they locked on him in a way that made him want to sink his cock deep inside her.

“That’s not her,” he heard Cian say from far away. “You don’t feel that about Yrsa, Loki.” The wizard’s power was wrapped up in his words. His need to pull him from whatever this was. “You feel that aboutRevna.”

That’s when it became crystal clear.

Somehow Yrsa had influenced Revna’s heart.

A heart all tied up with his.

Which meant there was only one way to handle this. Only one way to defend the light that had tried to protect him from evil. He needed to break Revna free from wherever she was. Bring her back so they could drive the evil queen away once and for all.

How to do that, though? How to revive her so that she could fight?

Because therehadto be a way.

“Seer, seer, divine,” the mirror echoed again as if there were some hidden message in its response. “Revna remains the most powerful seer of all time.”

“Seer, divine,” he whispered, trying to keep Yrsa at arm’s length. Trying to remain free of her powerful allure. “Seers aren’t divine unless....”

That’s when the truth hit him. The sheer possibility.

Couldsuch a thing be possible? Could he somehow make Revna divine because their hearts were tied? If so, how to go about it? He had no idea other than he couldn’t do it from here. Could not do it without her fleshly body next to him.

He glanced Cian’s way only to find the wizard waiting, as though he sensed what was coming next. That it would be more of a trial for him than facing the lava and gasses already swamping them.

It didn’t matter, though. Whether his newfound state could withstand the succubus or not, Cian bolted toward Loki, tossed Revna into the air, and yanked Yrsa close when Loki caught her.

“What are you two doing?”Revna roared, but it was too late.

Loki had her now and intended to fix this. How, though? How?He fell to his knees and held Revna's body close, willing her awake so they could fight Yrsa together. So whatever hold the succubus had on her heart would lessen.

Cian staggered back but managed to keep standing when Yrsa thought she would make quick work of him. When she wrapped her legs around him, stared deeply into his eyes, and did what she hadn’t managed to do with Loki.

Closed her lips over his.

“No,” Loki growled until he caught the reflection of them kissing in the mirror.

Until he understood something he never had before.
