Shayna
“ Y o, Shay! You mind coming in here for a sec?”
I thought the guys were in church, debriefing upon King’s arrival home.
“Yeah…um, sure.” I leave the bottles on the bar and head into the meeting room, and there in the center, standing before all the men is Lincoln.
“Before you speak, Link, I want to say something.” King steps in front of me.
“You, Shayna, have been a godsend to this club. Without you, I’m not sure any of us would’ve been able to pull through this last year.
I want you to know that despite Link making his claim, we had already claimed you as our own.
You’re our family, doll. You’ve nestled into all of our hearts.
Now, that man over there loves you and wants to make you his old lady, but no matter what, you will always be part of our family. You got it?”
The tears start to fall. But these are happy tears. I finally got what I always wanted: a family. I got a father in King, a brother in Dagger, a sister in Rory, uncles and cousins and a home I feel safe in. I’ve gotten more than I could ever imagine.
“Thank you, King.” I wrap my arms around him, hugging him tight. “Thank you for taking me in and for giving me a chance. I love you all so much.”
“We love you too, doll.” He gives me a tight squeeze, pulling back when Link steps up to his back.
“I need to hand you over to your man now before he kicks my ass.” He chuckles.
“But before I do, I just want to let you know that if he ever gives you any grief, you come to me, and as your stand-in father, I will gladly make sure he learns the error in his ways.”
I cling to him again. One last hug before he steps out of the way and Lincoln steps forward.
“You already claimed my heart, babe. Now, I’m asking if you’ll claim my last name and take me as your husband.”
He pulls out a beautiful diamond ring, and more of those darn tears decide to fall.
“What do you say, baby? Will you marry me?”
“Yes!”
A wild roar of cheers rings out as Lincoln slides the ring onto my finger then lifts me from the ground. I don’t even need the ceremony. This was enough. The most perfect moment of my life.
