DALLAS
A fter a long night of thinking of Kasim, Dallas mustered up enough courage to confront him.
She knew he was upset about the letter she had written to Big Boy; the question was why?
He knew she had a boyfriend back home. Not to mention, the sexual encounters with several women he had right in front of her.
Why was he leading her on? Why was he showcasing anger? But most importantly, why did he kiss her the way he had done? Kasim was sending mixed emotions. And too many. Could he really be into her was the question she asked, but again, why?
Storming into his room, Dallas had hopes he'd be laid back on his bed as he always did. Dallas could make out a figure lying across the bed, so she stepped closer and instantly covered her mouth. She didn't shed a single tear, but she stood in mere shock.
A woman, the same woman she’d spent all night in jealousy thinking of, was sprawled out in Kasim's bed fully naked.
Her face was covered in blood, and her head had swollen to the point she was unrecognizable.
Coming up in the hood, Dallas had witnessed plenty of dead bodies, but this one played a different melody.
The way Kasim looked at Sable, Dallas knew there was some sort of attraction. So what the fuck happened that made him kill her? This put more on Dallas's mind because it made her think of the possibilities of him killing her too.
Just as she turned to run away, Kasim's frame appeared from in the dark, his eyes with a piercing gaze that locked onto hers.
The weight of his mistakes hung heavy on his mind, but his rugged features showed no hint of remorse.
His eyes burned with a primal intensity—as if he dared her to try and tame the untamable beast that stood before her.
Dallas searched his face, expecting to see a glimmer of apology, but all she saw was unapologetic desire.
His eyes seemed to say, "I'll do what the fuck I want," and the spark in his gaze left her breathless.
Her heart pounded as he took a step closer, his movements fluid and powerful.
The air was thick with tension, and she knew she should be afraid, but there was something about him that drew her in like a magnetic pull she couldn't resist.
"Who are you?" she whispered, her voice barely audible.
Kasim didn't answer.
Instead, he leaned in close, his breath whispering against her ear. "A fucking monster." He growled, his voice low and menacing.
Dallas felt a surge of fear, but it was mixed with questionable pleasure. In that moment, she realized she was trapped, bound to a man with secrets, with darkness, with mental fucking issues.
“I'll bring the darkness to your doorstep, Dallas. I told you go be with yo’ nigga, but you chose to stay." He exhaled slowly.
Dallas continued to watch him. There was more to Kasim than just a hood persona and handsome face.
He wore his scars like armor, a shield against the world.
Love was a weakness for him, and by the way he watched her was evident.
She saw past his tough exterior; she saw the hurt and the pain plastered in his deep brown eyes.
For the first time she saw the boy he used to be.
Before life hardened him. Something just wasn't right with these damn men but it dug deeper.
Something about his past. Maybe something with the man she knew as his father.
She wasn't sure what it was, but she knew it wasn't the streets that had corrupted him.
"Baby, I'm a bad guy. I'm addicted to this world of trouble.
I've got demons chasing me, and the only way to keep them at bay is to kill.
" He took a drag on his cigarette; the flame illuminated the sharp lines of his face.
"I've done things, seen things, that'll haunt me till the day I die.
That's what I've become." His gaze locked onto hers unflinching.
"But you don't have to do this, Kasim." Her eyes spoke volumes.
"Dallas. Don't worry ’bout me. You'll go back to your little life, and I'll be here. Fucking. Killing. That's what Kinglys do." He spoke as if it was nothing.
This made Dallas think of everything Mama told them the night she had come. The way the casino was being ran didn't take a rocket scientist to discover, but she knew deep within Kasim was much more than what he presented. Much more than what the Dynasty offered.
