“I take it the U.S. Attorney signed off on Cinco’s cooperation agreement?”

Will had volunteered to represent his old partner in negotiations with the Department of Justice over his involvement in the events that led to Landon Lewis’ death.

“Yes, to be honest, Cinco is such a small fish in light of everything Anastasia Cohen gave them on Delone, he’s not even on their radar. He’s—I don’t know, what’s smaller than a minnow?”

“A guppy,” Sasha suggested.

“A mosquito fish,” Naya declared with authority.

“He’s a very small fish.”

“So, they approved the Prescotts’ move to New York State?”

“Signed, sealed, and delivered,” Will confirmed.

“Thanks for taking that on,” Naya said.

“Iamthe criminal defense attorney here. Some people seem to forget that.” He gave Sasha a reproachful look.

“Sorry, Will, next time I’m in a knife fight with a former Mossad agent, I’ll totally tag you in.”

Naya choked on her donut hole.

“When are they going to indict Delone?”

“Within the next day or two. Thanks to the tip from Hank, the feds got to Brian Rosen at Pinpoint Partners before Delone did. And Stasia’s pilot is also cooperating. His goose is cooked.”

“Music to my ears,” Sasha told him.

“Oh, and, you may be pleased to know that based on Cinco’s sworn statement, the district attorney revoked Bella Steptoe’s home confinement agreement and she’ll be awaiting trial in her case in county jail. So, I wouldn’t be surprised if a few nights sleeping on thin, scratchy, low-thread-count sheets and the loss of her personal Pilates privileges convince her to cooperate, too.”

Sasha grinned at the image.

The door opened a crack, and Ellie slipped into the room, mouthing ‘sorry’ as she took the seat closest to the door.

“Thanks for coming in early, everyone. We have just a quick administrative update, and then it’s all donuts and coffee and chitchat,” Sasha promised. “Naya, it’s your show.”

“Okay, people. Listen up. As the partner saddled with facilities issues, I’ve been tasked with negotiating with Jake for additional space so we can build out and expand the office. Ithoughtwe had a deal, but our beloved landlord/coffee shop owner has backed out and given the space to someone else.”

A chorus of groans and grumbles went up.

“Now, hold on. I found out who is taking over the rest of the floor, and if we have to share, I guess it’s a pretty good neighbor to have.”

Naya nodded at Caroline, who had obviously been waiting for the signal. Caroline pulled open the door.

Maisy sashayed into the room followed by Jordana. “Well, hello, neighbors! I’m just stopping in to let you know that the Farley Files can’t wait to engage in all sorts of office buddy events with all y’all. We’re talking Margarita Mondays, Taco Tuesdays, Watermelon Wednesdays—”

“Watermelon Wednesdays?” Sasha interrupted. “In February?”

“I got on an alliterative roll and got carried away. The point is, Jordana and I are gonna be very good neighbors, and we can’t wait to move in.”

“On that note, Maisy said anyone who stays after work to help us carry in all our stuff is welcome to join us for our first, um, Fiesta Friday this evening.” Jordana delivered the bribe with a pained expression.

“What just happened here?” Sasha asked Naya.

“I got outplayed by a bubbly blonde, and now we’re going to have endless parties,” Naya groused good-naturedly.
