“Of course, man. And if Knox is out there . . . be careful. Those guys hate you for what you did.”
His gut clenched. Vincent didn’t have to tell him that. He already knew that was the truth.
Logan’s mind was still racing. As soon as he got off the phone with Vincent, he dialed the number for Morgan’s agent, Geoffrey Urbana.
The man didn’t even live in this area. He was in Los Angeles.
Logan had never met him, and he’d had no reason to.
Once a year Morgan flew down to LA to meet with him so they could discuss her career. He helped her to make contacts and set up the art shows.
But other than that he had very little involvement with Morgan’s life.
However, if anyone knew about this photo shoot, it would have been him. In fact, he’d been on Logan’s list of people to call.
It was ten at night in LA, but the man answered on the third ring. The sounds of people talking murmured in the background, and Logan imagined the man at a high-class party with some of his high-class clients.
“Geoffrey here.”
“Geoffrey, this is State Trooper Logan Gibson, and I’m calling about Morgan Riley.”
Some of the noise faded in the background as if the man had moved into a quieter room. “What about Morgan?”
“She has disappeared, and we’re looking into what happened.”
“What do you mean she disappeared?” Accusation stained the man’s voice.
“We believe she may have been abducted.”
Geoffrey said some choice words beneath his breath. Then he asked, “Why wasn’t I called earlier?”
“Mostly because you were in California.” Logan paused. “That is correct, right?”
“Yes, I’ve been in California. And New York City. But not Alaska.”
Logan made a mental note that he should probably check this man’s schedule, just to be sure.
“Do the police have any leads?” Geoffrey continued, plowing ahead in the conversation like he owned the world.
Based on what Morgan had said about the man, that was the way he always spoke.
“I’m going through some photos of hers from a recent photo shoot she did near Denali. And there’s a man in the picture who could possibly be a person of interest. I was wondering if you had the list of the crew that went there with her? I know she mostly likes to travel alone, but on occasion she needs people there to help her for safety reasons.”
“Yeah, I helped her arrange that trip to Denali. I can send you a list of who was on that crew.”
“And if I send you a photo, could you tell me if you recognize anybody from the photos?”
“It’s doubtful I will. Like I said, I work from down here in LA. I never meet those people in person. But send it. You never know.”
Logan thanked him.
“If you hear anything, let me know. Morgan is a gift to the art world. I’m sure you know that.”
A lump formed in his throat. “I do.”
“And she’s always thought a lot of you.”
Logan froze. “What?”
