Nick finally turned his attention to them, probably because Legolas was no longer on the screen. “And how long did that take you to admit?”

“Nicholas,” Anna hissed. “Stop. We’re here now and that’s all that matters.”

He held his hands up. “I wasn’t trying to start anything. I was just teasing.”

Brooke chuckled. “It’s fine, Darling. It’s deserved. I see that now. But yes, we’re here now. And I for one am rather glad for it.”

“Tonight was perfect,” Anna sighed, setting her empty paper plate down on the coffee table. She snuggled into Brooke’s side, not caring that Brooke was still in the middle of eating.

“Oh yeah? Copious amounts of sex followed by pizza and time spent with your best friend and roommate really doing it for you?” Nick teased.

Anna let out a little laugh. “I mean, I was mainly talking about the copious amounts of sex and the pizza, but sure. You’re cool, too.”

“You’re insufferable,” Nick groaned. “How can you stand her, Brooke?”

“Oh, I don’t know,” Brooke said, unable to stop the smile spreading across her lips. “She seems pretty perfect to me.”

“Gross,” Nick shot quickly before Anna could respond.

Anna beamed at her. “Do you really think so?”

“Yeah,” Brooke nodded. “I really do.”
