“An observant man can always tell, but that is something I require.”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean that if you’d like for me to show you just how perceptive and passionate a man can be, you’ll need to obey my rules.”
“Rules?” Feeling the lump in my throat, I swallowed while pulling my head back so I could study him. Was he being serious?
“Yes, rules. Whatever I say goes. You’ll need to place your full trust in me, but I assure you, I will not allow anything to happen that you don’t want or need.”
My mouth was Sahara dry while my mind buzzed with possibilities. “Okay. I can do that.” Could I? Could I freely let go when everything inside me screamed this was wrong?
“Are you agreeing to my terms?” He sat back, every inch of the man oozing confidence.
He never blinked and it seemed he was completely in tune to the dark desires that I’d never explored. His offer was so tempting, so… I thought about the possible ramifications of my actions. Were there really any? We were both adults. We were currently unattached. This was only for one night, not a lifetime. Just one night of hot, forbidden sin.
Without strings.
“Yes, I am.”
His eyes opened wider with a hint of surprise. “Good girl.”
Why did the two words create another wave of butterflies?
“So you agree to obey me? I need to hear your answer.”
He was already managing to control me including my emotions and desires. I was breathless, all but hypnotized by his presence.
“Then yes. I’ll obey you.” I’d whispered the answer.
Oh, my God. I’d lost it completely. This was insane. This was so out of character for me that I couldn’t believe I was considering even a moment of this.
Yet the excitement continued to build.
He trailed his finger down my arm, following with his heated gaze. I could almost feel his pulse in my throat even though my thudding heart caused almost every other sound to vanish.
“Then you will come with me. This is your last chance. If you’re uncomfortable, then as stated before, we enjoyed a night as friends and nothing more. It’s your choice.”
My choice.
I’d never had such a delicious, filthy choice to make before in my entire life. I was trembling, hating myself for feeling overwhelmed.
The good girl who’d never gotten as much as a speeding ticket, the one who’d waited until she was twenty-two to lose her virginity and the one who valued common sense over everything was screaming that this was a very bad idea.
But the woman who’d agreed to having a drink with a man she didn’t know while longing for him to touch her wanted to let go.
So I made a choice.
“I’m not backing out. I will obey you.”
CHAPTER 3
Bristol
“Stand up,” he told me, his tone much more commanding than before.
I did as he said, struggling to slide my foot into my shoe. When I was standing in front of him, he finally rose to his full height. He was much taller than I’d realized and as he swept his eyes down to my toes, even the look in his eyes was more authoritative.
“Turn around.”
