JENSEN

Unknown: Is your backdoor open?

Unknown: How much for a handjob?

I shoved my phone back in my pocket and climbed from the car. I was one more invasive, disgusting text away from changing my numbers. The only texts I wanted were ones from Adeline and the one I had gotten before practice had me rushing through drills just to get to her.

I was in so deep, I could feel her in my sleep.

Of course, Adeline looked like a fucking dream.

Her hair was loose around her shoulders and all the color had returned to her skin since being sick.

She was wearing jeans that hung wide on her legs and a tiny cropped mesh shirt that showed off her toned stomach and begged for me to touch.

Kaia was leaning against her in a minidress and a rough-looking jean jacket with a concerning smile across her usually stern face.

“You’re late, fuckboy,” Kaia snipped.

I ignored her jab completely, wrapping my arms around my girl and peppering her skin with kisses until she begged me to stop in a fit of breathless giggles.

“I had practice and I’m two minutes late,” I said to Kaia, setting Adeline back on the ground. “How are you feeling?” I asked her.

“Better,” she said, keeping her hand knotted into the back of my shirt .

“Alright what’s this big surprise?” I asked as another car whipped into the parking lot.

Adeline’s body went rigid and I followed her gaze to the slamming door as Kaia pushed off the car to meet the guy stomping across the asphalt toward us.

“That’s Christian,” she sighed, pressing her face into my shoulder, meeting my gaze. “Kaia’s boyfriend.”

I wanted to ask her why we didn’t like the guy because it was written all over her face that we didn’t but he was in ear shot and I wasn’t going to tempt starting an argument with a guy I’d never met before over my girlfriends silent disdain.

“Jensen,” I introduced myself, holding out my hand to him. He was tall, with a wiry frame and dark hair, his lip pulled to the left in annoyance as his beady brown eyes flickered down to my hand.

“Chris,” he grunted in return but didn’t shake my hand, leaving me hanging awkwardly. “Is this the latest conquest Kaia won’t stop talking about?” He asked Adeline, and talked about me like I wasn’t standing in front of him.

“Stop,” Kaia scoffed, “I wasn’t talking about him last night while my mouth—”

“Don’t finish that sentence,” Christian said, cutting her off as his hand wrapped around her throat and roughly kissed her to keep her quiet.

I could feel how uncomfortable Adeline was by the way her body pressed tightly into mine and she completely avoided the weird display of affection between the two of them.

“We’re going to a pop-up at the Hollow,” Kaia said, “Adeline’s oldest brother has a band and they’re playing their first live gig tonight.”

“You have a brother?” I looked down at her and she sighed.

“She has two brothers,” Kaia laughed maniacally. “There’s your surprise .”

“Consider me shocked,” I said quietly and dug my fingers playfully into her side to draw a smile out of her. “You were just going to throw me into the deep end tonight with your brothers?”

“Oh, baby,” Adeline scrunched her nose up at me, “they’re not the deep end.”

“Zane and Taylor are easy…” Kaia interjected, “it’s the Hollow that should scare you.”

“The pub downtown?” I looked at her confused .

Kaia didn’t answer, a smile spreading across her face. Suddenly my relaxed state was on high alert. Even though I was sure that I had passed the best friend test long ago, Kaia being the main instigator between our relationship it was clear that tonight had been created to test me.

She wanted to see how far she could push me before I broke.

But the joke was on her, there was nothing in the world that could trip me up.

I wasn’t going to mess up what I had. Not for anything.

It was also very obvious that Kaia’s boyfriend was another test, I just couldn’t quite figure out what one.

Was I supposed to get along with him, or did I follow Adeline’s hushed body language and keep my guard up?

We all piled into Kaia’s car, Adeline forcing me to sit in the back with Christian. The second she hit the gas I knew we were in trouble. Kaia backed out of the parking lot with one hand on the wheel and the other on Adeline’s seat.

She was going at least twenty over the speed limit as she pulled the car into a quick one-handed drift around the corner on a red light, her right hand never leaving its relaxed position behind Adeline’s head.

She slid in and out of traffic causing Christian to grumble something from beside me.

Adeline was flipping through music completely unconcerned with the friend's lack of safety as she ripped through the streets of Harbor.

“Let me guess, the Fast and Furious obsession extends to you?” I said between the hiccupped radio channels.

“You afraid of a little speed, fuckboy?” Kaia laughed, and I swear the car moved faster.

“I didn’t say that,” I said, leaning forward to snake my hand around the seat and find Adeline’s skin. I needed contact, craved it like a lovesick idiot.

“You can say it… it’s okay if you are. I’ll show your girl a good time if you’re too much of a coward,” Kaia teased with a honey-like giggle.

“God Kaia,” Christian groaned, his eyes on his phone.

“I surrender. Sorry Belle, you don’t need me, you already have the perfect boyfriend.” I rose both hands to Kaia, our eyes meeting in the rearview mirror.

“Dude,” Christian’s voice was like sandpaper on everyone's good mood. “Stop flirting with my girlfriend in front of yours. ”

“He’s not flirting, and neither is Kaia…” Adeline scowled.

“Sounds like flirting,” Christian stared her down and it took everything in me to stay quiet while Adeline dealt with his attitude.

“How would you know what flirting is?” Adeline said.

Christian glared at her, his eyes narrowing as she challenged him.

“Just because you flirt like limp cardboard…” Her words died out as she turned into Kaia’s arm, leaning over the console as Kaia kept her foot on the gas pedal.

Her lips caught her jaw in a languid open-mouthed kiss that made Kaia turn her gaze off the road to focus on her best friend.

I shifted on my seat, cursing them both for needing to prove a point to such an asshole because my dick stiffened in my jeans as Kaia’s mouth captured Adeline’s in a quick, playful kiss that left smirks on both their faces. “Doesn’t mean everyone else does.”

We were all going to die in a fiery crash and I’d be happy for it.

Her eyes met mine quickly as she pulled away from Kaia, a cute smile on her mouth that made me warm and feral. I needed out of this car with these two before I exploded.

“Don’t fucking kiss my girlfriend, Addy,” he snapped and my hand tightened on the seat. There was something in the tone of his voice that made me want to put his smug face through the backseat window.

“We’ve had this conversation, Christian. Kaia is my boyfriend, before she’s your girlfriend. I get first dibs and you shut your mouth,” Adeline teased and my heart grew two sizes in my chest. What the fuck was this girl doing to me?

“Can Kaia be my boyfriend too?” I said teasingly and Adeline giggled, sitting back in her seat and giving Christian the middle finger without looking back at him.

Unfortunately for everyone, that was the end of Christian’s good behavior, if you could even call it that.

The moment we arrived on Main Street and Kaia was parked, backward without even flinching into a spot far too small for her car , the back door was slammed unreasonably hard and she was chasing after Christian.

“Is he always like that?” I asked Adeline after opening her door for her.

“Worse,” she said, fixing her hair in the window before turning to me with a bright smile. “Thank you for not losing your cool. ”

“Oh my boxers are damp and sticky,” I joked and Adeline tipped her head back in laughter. “I don't know why you’re laughing, it’s not funny. I have to meet your brothers with cum shorts,” I laughed, chasing after her as she backed up to the crowded sidewalk and out of my reach.

By the time I caught her, she was flushed and giggly, begging to be fucked senseless and I was starting to think that maybe I’d rather just keep her locked up to myself forever.

I kissed her neck as my arms wrapped around her waist, not stopping until my teeth found her ear and her ass was pressed tightly against my semi.

A husky voice cleared their throat to our left and Adeline stiffened in my arms, her smile turning into an embarrassed line as her eyes drifted up.

“Hi Taylor,” she said, straightening herself out.

“Addy,” Taylor said. It was like looking at two of them, side by side it was very clear that they were siblings. Her brother was taller but not by much with a wider jaw and darker green eyes but they shared the same complexion and wavy, brown hair.

“This is Jensen…” She said, wiggling out from my grasp and nudging me.

“It’s nice to meet you,” I offered my hand to him and he took it.

“Taylor, and you’re the Catcher.”

“Is that a bad thing?” I laughed.

“No, I just remember a very embarrassing conversation between my sister and my brother a few weeks ago-”

“Shut up, Taylor!” Adeline snapped with a smile on her face.

“Testy,” her brother smiled back at her. “Have you seen Zane yet or were you too busy necking the dreamboat?”

“Thanks man,” I said, appreciating the compliment even if he hadn’t meant it to be one.

Taylor stared at me like I was insane but Adeline laughed and it made me wanna kiss the sound out of her but I controlled myself, slipping my hand into the back pocket of her jeans.

“No, but Kaia is here somewhere…” she said.

“Yeah, I saw her arguing with Christian in the alley,” he said, “She’s still with that asshole? ”

“She’s not a quitter,” Adeline mocked Kaia’s tone.
